How do I set a reserve price and then push it to auction?

Sending a name to auction with a reserve involves a Sedo broker. Sell Domains>Domain Auctions section on Sedo.com for more info.

The simpler method is to negotiate the price higher with your potential buyer and send it to auction.

Yes, but if they accept your counter, you're bound to honor that and can NOT send it to auction. So counter with something you'll be satisfied with if they accept -- or just send it to auction with their current offer (unless the offer was made outside of Sedo, of course).

When you receive an offer for a name on Sedo, you can either ignore it, accept the price, counter offer, or send it to auction with the current offer being the first bid.

If you counter offer, the potential buyer can ignore your offer, accept your price, counter with another offer or cancel the negotiation.

If you receive a counter offer, you can ignore it, counter again, accept the price, send it to auction using the latest offer as the first bid, or cancel the negotiation.
