Need pointers on learning web develoment

hello can anyone help me out with any pointers (courses, or classes ect) for learning web development, besides a degree program, or is that really the only way to go?

if you wanna spend money on learning , then the cheapest way is books.
Else , google can be the way to learn everything.
There are costly video tutorials too ....
