Hi guys, I just bought a theme from prime75.com, and I'm having trouble uploading one of the neccsary plugins, yoast breadcrumbs. This is the message I kepp getting:

Unpacking the package.

Installing the plugin.

Destination folder already exists. /home/humouro1/public_html/wp-content/plugins/breadcrumbs/

Plugin Install Failed.

Now how do I fix this?

Sorry if this is the wrong place, I think its right! :tu:

Bad news, Zachdaman, I'm pretty sure this IS the wrong forum for your question. You'd probably be best posting a "Help ME!" question in something like NP's "Web Design Discussion" section -- then again, the Yoast support forum on WP.org might even be THE BEST PLACE to post your question, WordPress › Support » Tags — breadcrumbs

In the mean time, let me take a stab at helping you with your problem...

But first, a WARNING!!! I'm no WP expert so take my suggestions with a grain of salt. I take NO RESPONSIBILITY for any damage/effect my suggestions might have on your site. You've been warned...

Now, back to our regularly schedule program...

+++++++++++++++++++++

Since the error is telling you that the "breadcrumb" directory already exists, it sounds like your "breadcrumb" plugin is already installed. Have you gone in to your WP Admin panel and checked to see if it is already listed? If so, activate it and see if it works. If it exists and doesn't work, uninstall it through your WP Admin panel and then try reinstalling it.

If you find the Yoast isn't installed (isn't listed) in your list of plugins, then you might consider FTP'ing in to to your server (or use "File Manager" if you have cPanel) and rename the existing "breadcrumb" directory to something different (maybe "breadcrumbs1", this way you don't lose the original directory in case you still need it). Then try installing the Yoast plugin again to see if it installs -- and be sure to activate it.

++++++++++

To REPEAT AND EMPHASIZE my previous WARNING -- I'm no WP expert so take my above suggestions with a grain of salt. I take NO RESPONSIBILITY for any damage/effect my suggestions might do to your site. You've been warned a second time...

Good luck!

Reluctant plugin

OK, this is sort of right up my alley and from what I can tell this would be exactly what I would do if I had the same issue.

Now, its possible even by utilizing the FTP function - its possible that the plugin is not compatible with the theme.

Sometimes a theme will give me fits and then I find out its a plugin conflict. I change the theme, the issue resolves.

Good luck - if you find you need more help with wordpress you can contact me here or on my site.

By the way, Zachdaman...

If you are still tracking this thread (it's been 3 weeks since I posted my suggestion), it's usually appropriate (i.e. good manners) to acknowledge people that try to give you a helping hand -- and maybe even let them know if you've solved the problem...
