Need help fixing forums - phpbb - $$

well these are the errors im getting:

on register and profile pages:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected '}' in /home/hazza/public_html/gorillazforum/includes/template.php(127) : eval()'d code on line 143

at the top of my admin section for IMPortal - http://www.integramod.com/home/portal.php?page=4

Warning: opendir(./../var_cache/): failed to open dir: No such file or directory in /home/hazza/public_html/gorillazforum/includes/lite.php on line 300

also, when i go to change the permissions of a specific user (mod, admin, user etc.) it says that the permissions have been updated, but they haven't.

as far as the first error is concerned, i have done a little research into it. it seems it is quite common, but trying to find the error in the code in one of 100s of pages of php and templates is a bit beyond me...

if u have then look @ the line number 127, you have done something wrong and according to the error there is an invalid '}' in there

2nd, make sure that u have this dir var_cache/ and chmod it to 777

also chmod all the folders tht need to chmoded ...

And do the first change (checking line 127) before doing any more... alot of times errors cascade.. the cause of the second may be the first, etc...

yeah, i've done these. the first error i have found, doesnt necessarily have anything to do with template.php - http://www.phpbbhacks.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=29625

i've CHMODed too, thanks
