Need comments quick

hey
tomorrow i am hoping to apply for the job as a web designer for a local web design firm. One of the things they request is that you have a website that they can see, to show your ability.... one of the only "professional" look websites i have is

could you please have a look and give me some comments on criticism and tips on how i could improve it.
everything from Spelling, Grammar, and typo mistakes, to bigger development errors.

The domain dosent look professional but a commerical domain(.com)

Why dont you place the [ADMIN] on the right of copyright it may look better !!!

oki, thanks for your prompt reply... i know the ballamness.info isn't too professional.... it was for my original personal website and im a teenager, and i've started to attempt more clean designed, professional websites... and the domain has stuck..... i don't think they'll be judging me on the domain though, its more about what i can produce.... i'll move the [ADMIN] now

That's not a problem buying any domains at namepros.com when you have lots of np$$

No admin link is fine on the index page .. now everything goes right !!!

The designs not amazing IMO. But it's not too bad!

If its an apprentice then its good, it shows he has 'above' basic knowledge, but if its for a full blown job then id say you need to work on the color scheme and artwork, and take any FREE scripts off there. Try and produce your own forums and shoutbox, that would impress the judges.

Don't take my word for it though. I've just put 2 + 2 together; might have come up with 5 though :p

no free scripts.... the only free thing on the whole site is the forum, its phpBB.... it would take me years to make the forum myself. The rest (Shoutbox, Guestbook etc) is all made by me

its an apprenticeship.

i apologise if theres anything wierd at the moment such as the footer not displaying on some of the pages, im currently working on the site

Im thinking that i might put at the beginning of the index page that i have made everything myself apart from the forum..... just to clarify

Well, the overall look is kinda ok. Here's what I would do :

- use a smaller font in the navigation.
- use a different rollover color for the text in your navigation ( you are currently using a green rollover color on a green background - not good )
- get rid of the frame in the content area.
- fix the php errors.

Oh, and I would also place a DOCTYPE in the source code.

yeah the PHP errors we're temporary while i was sorting out something... they're gone now. i'll change the rollover colour and see how the menu looks with smaller font

i hate the gray, the turquoise (ish) and the way it reloads every 5 secs or so, especially with that annoying popup! grr.

The layout of the site is ok, and the shoutbox looks very sophisticated!

i don't suppose anyone knows how i can make the shoutbox self updating without it refreshing??

also i could do with a free ASP host to host the shoutbox and guestbook etc.... the one im using has an annoying ad and also has popups as PoorDoggie just pointed out

hey, you could put the shoutbox into an "iframe" and then just have it refresh in there?? :p

I would highly suggest organizing. I would use a CSS style for your font. Don't use the default size 12 Times New Roman font. Get rid of the shoutbox, looks unprofessional.
