Hi,

I have a question. Currently my website uses a nameserver from my webhost. The nameserver is, let's say, ns1.somehost.com and the IP address is 12.34.56.78. Now I want to register a nameserver at namecheap ns1.mysite.com and set IP 12.34.56.78 for it.

Will my site work if I change the nameserver ns1.somehost.com to ns1.mysite.com after creating it?

Am I all wrong about this? Please correct me if I am...

Thanks

Hi,

First, you must create the A record for ns1.mysite.com in your zone file (for this, you must have control over your DNS), then you can create the nameserver at the registrar and change your domain's whois record.
