Just received this email:

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we are no longer registering domain names
effective immediately, and continuing for about 1 week, but may last a little longer.
More details follow.

DirectI decided to raise our prices without notice, and charge us retroactively
a higher price, and will not register anymore domains for NBCS Domains without us
paying them a large sum of money. Rest assured, they have confirmed that all domains
registered so far WILL be fine and not affected. Your domains will still be registered
for the remainder of the registration period, and if you would like, you are able
to push them to an account directly under DirectI or under another DirectI registrar.

We are currently looking into other registrars to continue our business at, and
will keep everyone updated as to the status of being able to register new domains.

I never used them anyway. It sounds like to me that they have come under financial difficulty and tere pulling of some lame exuse.
