Hey Guys,
My latest project is http://www.naruto-fanbase.com and it is a fan site about 'Naruto'. Naruto is a Japanese anime/manga which is incredibly popular - it was Yahoo's 8th most searched for term of 2008.
I have spent approximately a month on this project and I am very happy with the outcome. Naruto-Fanbase.com has the following features:
Has already been translated into 12 different languages,
User Accounts and Registrations (inc. confirmation email),
User Profiles /w 'Friends',
International Live Fan Chat (which automatically translates all messages into the user's native language - ultimately allowing foreign users to communicate in their own language),
A collection of almost all Naruto and Naruto Shippuden episodes streams,
Built-in Forums (no external script, I built the forums specifically for Naruto-Fanbase),
Fan Art Image Search (users can upload their own images to the collection),
Fan Fiction Reader and Writer (users can upload, write and read each other's fan fiction),
User Protection System (only users who are 'friends' can access each other's profiles. Confirmation emails are automatically sent to users when they have been added as a friend),
Small Naruto Shop (affiliated with Amazon Associates),
Invite System to allow users to invite their family and friends,
'Panic Button' to allow users to hide the website if they are at school/work/university and someone is watching,
The mutli-lingual International Live Fan Chat is a Javascript/AJAX script that I personally wrote (we opted to use AJAX instead of Flash or Java because many organisations block them from being used at schools, workplaces etc.)
Naruto-Fanbase is currently ranked at 792,447 (and climbing).
Paired with the Naruto-Fanbase.com domain and website, you will receive the Naruto-Fanbase Facebook Application, which currently has over 1000 users. The application enables Naruto fans to watch all of the episodes/movies that are available on our main website, on Facebook.
At the moment, we are receiving using, on average, 2700mb of bandwidth.
Quick Stats (Monthly Visits):
December = 367
January = 1115
February = 8493
March (so far) = 5217
The above figures are simply from word of mouth, we do not have the funds to perform an advertising campaign. The website was built using HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP/MySQL (PHP4 & 5) and AJAX.
As far as the price is concerned, I am not sure what to expect - however an experienced Web Designer/Developer suggested that the value would be at least $800-$1000 because of the potential that the website has due to the translation of 12 languages and the huge target audience it brings. Also, the International Live Fan Chat which automatically translates each user's messages into their native language is a huge plus, as it break down the main barrier that seperates much of the internet; the language barrier.
The reason for selling is simply because we do not have the experience, nor the funds, to advertise such a promising website. The perfect buyer would be someone who can advertise in the UK/US, as well as utilizing the 11 other languages that the site has been translated into.
The languages that the website has been translated into (and the languages that the live fan chat supports) are currently:
English, French, Spanish, German, Finnish, Russian, Arabic, Hindi, Chinese Traditional, Korean and Japanese.
Any sale would, of course, include Technical Support (Telephone and Email) for a period of at least 12 months.
If you are interested, or would like to ask any questions, please contact me via this thread, private message or on MSN at [email protected].
Kind Regards,
David Smith
