It’s been awhile since l bought a domain name, and doing so now seems to be more complicated—at least “afterbirth,” so to speak.

Specifically, finalizing the transaction. Apparently, doing so involves verifying or incorporating nameservers inside-out. (I teach English and know grammar and punctuation inside, but I’m technologically-impaired.)

I just purchased turmuric.com. a slight misspelling of the wildly viral health spice, from Network Solutions (they got my business by offering a $1 fee for the first year); in the past, after purchasing a domain name, all l had to do was list the name for sale on a seller like GoDaddy.

Now it seems my transaction is not complete until l verify or designate or otherwise deal with nameservers. At least l believe the that’s the name of the confusing-to-me final necessary step before attempting to see my domain name.

Would someone please explain to me what l need to do with my just-purchased domain name before l can attempt to market it.

Thanks very much for your help, and l promise to pay your kind assistance forward.

Lew

P.S. l proofread my message and noticed several errors, which l tried to correct, but, apparently, NamePros is not familiar with the writers’ axiom “Nothing good is ever written, only rewritten” and won’t allow people to correct their mistakes. Very strange!

I would like to help, but your post is pretty much word-salad.

What exactly is wrong at this point ?

ps- You have been a member for 11 years ?

Word salad, eh? For a guy who wrote “The ‘l-Hate-to-Write’ Writing Guide”? Can you use a semicolon—unlike 99 percent of the population—even though it is the most-important punctuation mark in the most-important language in the world.

Yes, an 11-year member. Took a 10-year-vacay.

Sorry for the confusion. Please let me try one more time.

I just bought a domain name at Network Solutions. Can l just go ahead and list it for sale on GoDaddy, or is there anything else l need to do first to make my purcase official?

The name you showed above turmuric/com shows reggo at godaddy dec2017 and listed at afternic for 25k’s
I book at NS and list immediately on afternic, which is daddy
Confused, to early for salad
Is it at ns or daddy or is whois out of date or did you misspell

I think where people are getting confused is that you say you have purchased the domain at netsol but are now having issues "finalizing the transaction". So are you having issues completing the ownership of the domain at netsol, or at a marketplace you are trying to list at?

I am a little confused too (although often in that state of mind to be honest :xf.wink:).

If by confirming transaction it simply means verifying that you do control the email that you used in the purchase, the email from Network Solutions to do so should be obvious (I have never registered with them so can't be more specific, but it has been easy with the 5 registrars I dealt with).

If by DNS you mean you need to set the DNS settings to point where your domain is listed on a parking or lander page, you should first decide where you plan to sell it (i.e. Sedo, Afternic, GoDaddy, Flippa, Undeveloped, ToughDomains, etc.) and list it there. After that they will have instructions for the DNS settings. Again I don't know Network Solutions but presume that there will be a link labelled DNS or something when you log into your account.

Remember that in general you can't transfer a name within 60 days due to transfer rules, so depending when you bought it may have time to wait. You can push it at that registrar to a new owner in the interim though.

Surprised you say turmuric was registered in December of 2017. I just registered it last week, at Network Solutions—at least l think so.

Are you sure it wasn’t the correct spelling—tumeric—that wasn’t registered in late 2017?

Thanks for your prompt reply. After receiving a number of helpful replies, l decided to call Netwrk Solutions, where l purchased a handful of domain names

Thanks very much for your prompt reply to my rather confusing question. I decided to call Network Solutions to clarify what they meant by in the e-mail l received after purchasing a domain name from the company.

Specifically, the e-mail said l had to do a couple of actions to “complete the set-up of the domain.”

A NetSol agent told me that the entire message was just a promo in attempt to purchase more bells and whistles from his company, and that my domain name was good to go as is. 😡

Hey, thanks for your intrepid research! I’m not happy with the results of course. When l put “turmuric.com” in NetSol’s “Is it available?”
The answer was that it was. Now often when l do that with other companies, l receive the answer—”lt’s Available!” followed by a large price, e.g.,
$2,000. In other words, the company either owns the domain name or less likely, they know where the name is being sold and will purchase it for a lower price than they mention, and they will pocket the difference.

In my case, NetSol said turmuric.com was available for only $1—thus, l’m going to call NS immediately because it seems that two separate parties own the name—which, of course, is not possible.

Thanks again so much for your very helpful assistance!

This domain is listed for sale at Afternic...
And that's why this $25K listing is propagated across Afternic's partners (so-called "AfternicDLS network").
To delist it - current owner should email to service AT afternic.com and ask them.

And overall, according to WHOIS: turmuric.com is registered since Dec'2016 and managed at GoDaddy.
So you can't handreg it apriori.

Even if $1 was displayed - this is just NetSol glitch.
And nothing to discuss here.
Yoy have the only one way - to contact the current owner and to negotiate...
Or forget it.
