Hi.

I often visit namepros.com (few times per day) and last few weeks (1 or 2 max.) there are moments of approx. 10-20 minutes when NP forums are unaccesible. This repeats 1 or 2 times per day (that i notice).

Since i worked in hosting business, my guess is that server is getting overloaded?

Anyway, it pretty anoying, and i am suggesting to check out whats going on. My advice is to make php script that checks www.namepros.com for HTTP code 200 (reports ok) and to put in execution every 5 minutes. So you will be able to see when and why namepros.com is unaccessible.

I dont think i am the only one noticed that, so if anybody has the same experience, please share (for the benefit of this lovely forum).

Greetings.

There are so few ppl online now, its not that good. Load time and every thing is absolutely worse. I hope it doesn't get worse than this! :(

Why haven't the admins informed us of the problem? Major accessing problems today!

MySQL overload when the number of users increases too high. I've tried various tweaks and settings that have been recommended to me, but the problem still occurs.

Our current server has 1 GB RAM, that could be the problem. I'm getting a new machine today with double the ram and faster processors. We'll have it resolved shortly.

Will be fantastic when its sorted out.

I wont take this place for granted anymore. When I wake up and type in the URL and the site doesnt load... well, it breaks my heart.

Well maybe not quite that, but it aint good. :p

Glad to see its being sorted :D

I've got the new server already. Dual Xenon 2.4Ghz, 2GB Ram -- a very fast machine. Trying to sort out a license issue with Ev1 right now for the Cpanel, then I'll take the site down for an hour or so and move everything over.

Going as fast as I can, please hang in there.

Sounds good Ron.

Also, what is the output of mysqladmin status on the current server?

At the moment

root@d2 [/etc]# mysqladmin status
Uptime: 579 Threads: 2 Questions: 20822 Slow queries: 0 Opens: 148 Flush tables: 1 Open tables: 142 Queries per second avg: 35.962

During the freezeups though the threads count gets very high.

35 qps avg isn't very high, I've seen a few hundred on an underpowered server before.

Current on my dual xeon is 88.421 qps avg with only 1gig ram. We have huge databases, check out our var partition:

root@danzig02 [/etc]# df
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda5 3020140 2402376 464348 84% /
/dev/sda1 101086 18291 77576 20% /boot
/dev/sda8 44314656 1520292 40543260 4% /home
none 516020 0 516020 0% /dev/shm
/dev/sda7 1035660 146964 836088 15% /tmp
/dev/sda3 10080520 6956740 2611712 73% /usr

/dev/hda3 9637664 32828 9115272 1% /home/storage

You could try this my.cnf:

[mysqld]
max_connections = 400
key_buffer = 16M
myisam_sort_buffer_size = 64M
join_buffer_size = 1M
read_buffer_size = 1M
sort_buffer_size = 2M
table_cache = 5000
thread_cache_size = 64
wait_timeout = 1000
connect_timeout = 10
max_allowed_packet = 16M
max_connect_errors = 5
query_cache_limit = 2M
query_cache_size = 64M
query_cache_type = 1
skip-innodb

[mysqld_safe]
open_files_limit = 8192

[mysqldump]
quick
max_allowed_packet = 64M

[myisamchk]
key_buffer = 64M
sort_buffer = 64M
read_buffer = 16M
write_buffer = 16M

[edit] remember to restart mysql after

Oh, also you could try mytop to catch any queries which are causing MySQL to go awol. :)

I know, it doesn't make a lot of sense. The current server should be able to handle the load without a problem.

I'm setting up a remote access on my computer so you can take a look, qhx.

Update on the new server -- I got the new machine and it appears to be unlicenced with Cpanel. Basically you can't do any of the server setup if the license isn't valid, so I'm waiting for Ev1 to fix it so I can begin the setup and transfer.

-RJ-, contact me on Yahoo when you've got the RA invite.

You might want to try phoning Ev1 regarding the cPanel licence, too .. or you could try a support ticket with cPanel providing your retailer (EV1Servers) and your servers main ip.

Got the cpanel licensed issue resolved. Setting up the new server now.
