What does the faint little start next to my charity ribbons mean? How does it become a more solid star, spinning star, etc as I see on some other's profiles?

Hi Derek,

The stars represent how long you've been a member here:

Yellow/White Star = 6 months
Gold Star = 1 Year
2 Gold Stars (1 Spinner) = 2 Years
3 Gold Stars (2 Spinners) = 3 Years
