Namepros Live Domain Auction, May 6, 5pm EDT

Namepros Live Domain Auction, Sunday, May 6, 5pm EDT

Auction is over!

Time for another Namepros Live Auction! Here are a few things that might be helpful to those wanting to be part of the action.

Location and guidelines

The auction will occur at the following chat room. Just as important, the bottom of that page has the auction guidelines, instructions on submitting a name for auction, and a general description of how things will work:
http://www.namepros.com/chat2.php?room=Live+Auction

Auction Queue
Generally, about 30 lots will be up for auction. They can be found here:
http://www.namepros.com/liveauction.php?a=queue

Submitting a domain?

There is a nominal fee to list your domain for auction. In previous auctions it has been $125 NP -- hopefully, this encourages higher quality offerings. If you want to gauge interest in a potential submission, I suggest posting your candidate domain in this thread for advice. Make sure to read the auction guidelines before submitting your domain. If you're an old-timer and know the rules already, take a look at them to make sure nothing has changed. At that point, the direct link to add to the queue is:
http://www.namepros.com/liveauction.php?a=add

Good luck!
John --> Jagusa

PS- I am not running this auction, but I thought those links would be helpful. Rules on the auction page itself or from Namepros moderators supersede any information in this post.

------------------------------------------------
Details from the Auction Page

Bidders

1. All auctions are conducted in NP$. Most sellers will accept PayPal equivelent, and rate is assumed to be $.02 per NP$. If you need NP$, they can be purchased at the NP$ Bank & Exchange. There is a handy $ to NP$ converter towards the bottom of the auction chat page. The Bank and Exchange can be found at:
http://www.namepros.com/npexchange.php

2. Bidding increments are as follows:
Upon opening bid = Min. 1 NP$ increments
After 100 NP$ = Min. 10 NP$ increments
After 200 NP$ = Min 20 NP$ increments
After 1000 NP$ = Min 50 NP$ increments
After 2500 NP$ = Min 100 NP$ increments
After 5000 NP$ = Min 200 NP$ increments

3. Winning bidders are expected to make payment within 24 hours of end of auction event, unless notified of buyout clause by seller.

4. Bidders with 0 trader rating must complete payment on a winning auction before bidding again.

5. Bids must be entered before auctioneer declares item SOLD. If bid is made before SOLD is declared, it restarts the "going, going, sold" process.

Sellers

1. All auctions start at 1 NP$ with no reserve.

2. Buyout clause: Seller may opt to use the buyout clause to cancel the auction results by paying the winning bidder a fee of 20% of the winning bid price, capped at a maximum of 300 NP$.
If you opt to use the buyout clause, please inform the winning bidder immediately in private.

3. Auctions are to be conducted by the auctioneer only. You need not be present for your item to be auctioned if it has been properly added to the queue.

4. If you would like to submit a domain name to be sold at the auction, visit here. You may add one name at a time or one group of names to be sold at once. There is a fee to list a name at a live auction event. Your name will be added to the auction queue. Best efforts will be made to auction all names in turn.

By my clock, it shows that auction time, May 6, 2007, 5PM EST, is 24 hours and 9 minutes from now.

We'll need a moderator to reset the queue. Otherwise, this auction will be going nowhere!

Yeah it's only showing the last auction sold names. No way to submit a name.

Reported to the moderators -- hopefully this will get reset soon. If you see any moderators in the chat rooms (or elsewhere), mention the queue problem.

update: the moderators have posted that the queue will open close to auction time. see post #10 for clarification.

it's normal, queue will be open 30 min before auction.

Good informative post; no worries on the queue, it will open before the auction (Encourages those who want to sell to be present, no?).

Thanks for the clarification. My opinion is that opening the queue at the last second doesn't allow potential customers to judge beforehand whether it's worth showing up. I would rather have more buyers in the room than sellers. Not my show though...

Wow.. so glad these have started happening on weekends as well. Its really hard to attend on Friday evenings at 5pm because of work.

Wish I had seen this earlier, would have gone through the portfolio we have for sale and figured out which one(s?) to submit. Will try to log on this evening and submit before the auction.

Anyone know what the criteria is for getting accepted? Is it just based on the moderator's decision? Just asking so I can try to judge better what kind of domains to submit.

Thanks,

ST Domains
