Hey, domain sellers! 👋

We have a special surprise for you.

Continuing from last year (and last week), we have some exciting updates to share with you about NamePros Parking Landers!

First, consider this:

You price your domain name at $2,500. For years, hundreds of interested buyers want to buy it, but the price is too high for them. They don't even try to contact you because they don't realize that the price is negotiable or may change. Years later, you decide to lower the price to $995. How many previously-interested buyers would buy it at this lowered price? You’d never know — until now!

With our new Buy Now options, you can finally contact those previous buyers to increase your sales opportunities. 💸

Here’s how:

Our landers have an option that requires buyers to confirm their email address before they can see the price. Once confirmed, the price is available to them and their email address is available to you. Simple and effective. Learn more on DNW.com.

So I struggle to understand the hard sales pitch for their own landers and the negativity surrounding the other free landers. Each has positives and each has negatives. This salesy push solely for their own landers which make them no money, perplexes me.
I don't think it's an intentional sales push. I think they're just passionate because they can guarantee they'll never charge for their landers, and while a lot of others start as free or cheap, it's a commercial reality that it's very hard to survive without eventually charging in some way. I think @Bravo Mod Team doubts it can be done in the long-term (without the same backers that they have). But if Aftermarket can do it for free and keep it that way, then that's fantastic too. There are a couple of others that are free at the moment as well, but I agree completely with @Future Sensors :

I want to reiterate that I've personally never been looking for a completely free service for landers. Sure, at some point commission can become excessive in relation to the benefits offered, but I think it's perfectly healthy for any marketplace to be compensated for the costs they make, with a small markup. I don't agree with the idea that everything should be free everywhere.

It comes down to the quality of the product that is being offered. E.g. Afternic charges very high commissions for an incredibly buggy product that lacks features. So I don't use them, regardless of how high or low their commissions are.

Thanks for your perspective. Perhaps I'm misreading pushiness for passion. But that passion sure does seem pushy. Either way, I am happy to have options. While one cannot be sure free doesn't become paid in the future except at NP, I do see that point. But really, it's not that hard to swap in 2 years if something changes.

As for free vs paid, I'll pay too - but I want something in return. Efty is 2x the price of Sudos and at a glance does not offer any extra features worthy of the extra fee. Sudos is paid and Aftermarket is free and I'm currently working to identify if Sudos offers anything I feel Aftermarket lacks (and thus is worthy of the fee). So I get that free isn't actually what I want... I want functionality and flexibility. Now if I can 95% of the way there for free, I don't pay. But 50% won't cut it.

Free for the sake of free comes with problems. For example:
1- as we know Bodis has an issue (the name is hidden for those with adblockers installed). Bodis offers no support to rectify this known issue (since it's free they probably don't care). And yet, I've sold 5 names on Bodis landers. Did I lose any? That's the question, and I'll never know. I used Bodis when there was no other free choice - but now that there is, I am shifting away from them.
2- NP is free but lacks look/feel and flow. They are working to rectify and perhaps will enhance to the point where they become an option for me.
3- Aftermarket is free and is clean and crisp and appears to have no significant problems I can identify. NP pooh poohs them because at some future unknown date they may start charing. Even though the CEO said no (I realize a biz can change their mind). My point of the post was to say, it seems harsh for NP to be so negative about them. Bodis, I get. They have an unresolved issue. But I can find no sig issues with Aftermarket (but would love to hear thoughts from others - perhaps I missed some).

Yep, understood on all counts. I haven't used Aftermarket, so can't comment on them. But I am a fan of simple clean landers, so they sound good. I think a benefit of NamePros is that they're putting plenty of resources into this and are extremely responsive to suggestions and feedback. I know they have their devs committed to sorting out bulk import at the moment, so other things are on hold, but usually they get adjustments turned around very quickly. And once bulk import is done I'm sure we'll see a simpler Dan-type lander as an option. For all I know, it may be the same at Aftermarket, but they would certainly be the exception if that were the case. Anyway, it's great that there are a couple of options to choose from, which certainly wasn't the case in the past...

@Bravo Mod Team ,
Please do not show GD on your page,I believe you are trying to save us money since they take more from us.

Sellers can manually go checkout using GD if they want but please I don't want to see them on the lander as I cannot support a registrar that takes more and want to control the sales route for investors.

Checkout should include only option that won't charge exorbitant commission.

If sellers are afraid they won't make sales if Godaddy is not included ,maybe they should simply avoid using these free lander and continue using only GD and not suggest including them.
It's time to keep more money in our pocket from our effort all day and night .

Make Offer makes it sound like someone can make the min offer and it'll be considered. Contact Owner next to the BIN buttons lends itself to a slight negotiation... something like, can you offer me a discount (or other questions). This is the way I think a contact me button should be implemented.
This is a good point. It has taken me years to come around to this thinking.

All we has to do is look at it from the buyers perspective. Just imagine going to Walmart/Home Depot/etc. and finding a product you want and although it is marked $!9.88 it also has a 'make offer' stamped below it. My cart would be overflowing with items I'm ready to offer half of what it is marked when I get to checkout.

Sellers should be given the option. So I believe a buy at GoDaddy button should be an option. You don't want it, toggle it off. I want it, toggle it on. Nothing should be mandated from the top. Flexibility is best.

We need a term that would make buyer brainstorm and not just send a $100 offer for a name worth between 4 figures to 7 figures .

As i have noticed, not everyone is comfortable having a conversation with a buyer 😃.They just want buyer to go straight to bin or send a concrete offer close to their asking price.

There are many bugs in the landers option... for example, every time I go to modify the short description, it removes the other modifications I previously made (e.g., it removes the BIN option that was previously added). I have to re-do all the work I did previously. That is incredibly cumbersome.

Also - the <p>paragraph</p> function is not allowed for the short description making for a long run on sentence. It should be allowed.

Here is the difference in look/feel for NP landers vs Aftermarket. You can immediately see the difference in look/feel and hurdle points. I realize NP was designed to solve an issue (collecting email). And for those solely using RP it is of great assistance. But for those of us who use BIN - it is not, imho, an acceptable solution at this time. If NP adds a cleaner BIN lander (it can have MO, but it is meant for BIN sellers) then I can revisit.

I just wanted to echo this from @NicTraders. While I spend a lot of time at NamePros, and occasionally write stuff :giggle:, I have had no role in the lander initiative, but from my perspective I am simply in awe of how rapidly they have developed these, and how responsive they have been to suggestions from users. This is the ideal path to a great product. Kudos to the people involved with the NamePros landers.

Anyway, it's great that there are a couple of options to choose from
I, like many, have been migrating (manually in my case) names from Dan. In past I had as many as 70% of my landers with them, and I loved Dan landers. In my mind they did all the important things right, and had the perfect balance of ease of use and options. And of course the system behind them was rock solid for selling and negotiating, or at least very good.

I am a strong believer in competition. The way we make sure that the community will have choices, is for people to support different alternatives. I am moving my Dan to a wide variety in alternatives. If we all send our domains any one way, then down the road there will be fewer options.

I think its great that some use NamePros landers, and some are trying out the other new and existing lander options. Some like to spread their domains trying many options. All good in my opinion.

Bob

People use min offer for it (saying $10,000 min offer for a $25,000 BIN). But imo, if I was a buyer, the offer starts at the min every time. This is why I think Make Offer is generally silly.

I'd love to see if anyone could come up with a "button name" as you say. But I think it is BIN - with "contact seller" as shown on the Aftermarket lander above. Buyers who are aggressive will contact you and ask if you have any flexibility. This starts the negotiations from BIN rather than from min offer. Conceptually that is what we all want.

It's not there as a negotiating tool, it's there as a barrier to domain hobos and lowballers. Like the Domain King says, you require some type of "buyer qualification" system or you'll be overrun with nitwits.

Just list a premium domain on a major site with a $20 minimum and see what happens.

I didn't articulate well enough... clearly if one is to use Make Offer, there must be a make offer minimum. I'm just not a fan of Make offer in general. Like houses, cars, yachts, and most other things in life - the seller sets a price and negotiates from there. It is the concept of not setting a price I find silly (but I get that I am in the minority here)

Well, exactly how do you "set a price and negotiate from there" on a domain lander without a "Make Offer" and a reasonable minimum bid?

You set a BIN or use Request Price and there is no "negotiate from there" - it's all over as that is the Buy Price.

You set a BIN and then have a contact button below it.

So your "negotiate from there" can only go down in price?

That's sounds pretty crazy and it not my idea of "set a price and negotiate from there". But hey, different strokes for different folks.

Let me start by saying, I don't negotiate at all. 100% of my domains have BINs. Buy it or don't.

All I'm saying is, if one is going to utilize MO as a strategy, I want to set the starting point high. And then yes, I will provide a discount from there. To allow the buyer to set the starting point at min offer creates a sense in their mind that you will agree to something close to the minimum you set. After all, if you won't accept it - why did you set that as your min offer? Top less discount is better than bottom up (imho). That is why, you cannot find one other major industry (housing, Yachts, cars, etc.) that does it the way domainers do (bottom up).

You can set a percentage of the BIN as the minimum in your settings.

I know. So let's say you're willing to offer a 10% discount, if asked. By setting 90% as the setting the buyer sees $10,000 BIN and $9,000 make offer min. If I'm the buyer and see this, I'm never paying $10k. You've anchored me to $9k. If you show $10k BIN and then show "contact us", buyers may contact me to ask what I can do. No anchor has been set. I can respond, well, if you can buy this week, I will sell for $9k. Here is the payment link. This is a one week deal. No anchoring - just an urgent call to action.

Make Offer with any minimum - anchors the buyer to a number. That is the problem
