Hey, domain sellers! 👋

We have a special surprise for you.

Continuing from last year (and last week), we have some exciting updates to share with you about NamePros Parking Landers!

First, consider this:

You price your domain name at $2,500. For years, hundreds of interested buyers want to buy it, but the price is too high for them. They don't even try to contact you because they don't realize that the price is negotiable or may change. Years later, you decide to lower the price to $995. How many previously-interested buyers would buy it at this lowered price? You’d never know — until now!

With our new Buy Now options, you can finally contact those previous buyers to increase your sales opportunities. 💸

Here’s how:

Our landers have an option that requires buyers to confirm their email address before they can see the price. Once confirmed, the price is available to them and their email address is available to you. Simple and effective. Learn more on DNW.com.

    • Escrow.com (Recommended): Starts an Escrow.com transaction for you and allows the buyer to pay immediately.
    • PayPal: Creates a PayPal transaction for the buyer to pay directly to your PayPal account.
    • Email: You and the buyer use email to choose a payment method (e.g., crypto), discuss lease-to-own (LTO) options, etc.
  • Location: Country, region (e.g., state or province), and locality (e.g., city, town, or village) of your inquirers to help you understand where they are located, the best time to contact them, etc.
  • Bulk Management: Set options on multiple domains at the same time: prices, payment methods, appearance, etc. using our website's interface or your favorite spreadsheet software (e.g., Google Sheets).
  • Exports: Download a list of your domains and their settings, customizations, and inquiries, including buyers’ email addresses, offers, etc. (CSV format.)

Which ones? Do you have links to those reports? Going to start a spreadsheet for myself so I can clearly see what everybody is charging.
We sent you a DM to get you started. Please feel free to create a new thread to help everyone keep track of them and link us to it in this thread. 😊

In case you're interested there are other platforms that offer it (Aftermarket.com landers have Google Analytics integration too). Crisp and clean landers as well.

but they will take a hefty commission

I want to reiterate that I've personally never been looking for a completely free service for landers. Sure, at some point commission can become excessive in relation to the benefits offered, but I think it's perfectly healthy for any marketplace to be compensated for the costs they make, with a small markup. I don't agree with the idea that everything should be free everywhere.

True! Our opinion is simply that the industry will greatly benefit from having both options: a minimal free service and robust paid services.

NamePros is taking care of the free side, and many other great services are taking care of the paid side.

Success to everyone! 🙏

That's why I thought the pre-GD Dan/Undeveloped was the perfect solution - they charged 9% commission and gave users a wide range of tools and features, all in a current UI.

If those greedy buggers hadn't sold out (and then gone ahead setting up as a registrar), I think Dan would absolutely own the domain market at this point in time.

Again, Bodis is free. They've always been free - and they, like NP are free. You can downvote and disagree with this all you want - but it is a fact. So the statement should really be "NamePros and Bodis are taking care of the free side..."

Sadly, at this time, there are reasons why both free services are unusable for me. NP states they are working to enhance. If/when they get there, I'll take another look.

As for Aftermarket... I do not see how they plan to take 10% commission. My lander clicks directly through to Sedo, GoDaddy, or Escrow. Further they allow me to collect monies via Stripe, Gumroad, and Paddle. How would they insert themselves into any of this I have no idea. I reached out to them for comment (and saw their blog post you showed). Perhaps the 10% is for sales through their marketplace... and not directly to the lander? Or perhaps they will insert themselves in some way to take 10%. If they do that, I'll take a deeper dive at Sudos. Anyway, I'll wait to hear back before making a judgement here.

Also, NameMaxi has a free lander in beta testing now. So that will add one other "free" lander serving sellers (eventually).

What would make our landers usable for you?

What would make our landers usable for you?

First, let me start by saying thank you. I'm quite appreciative of your creating a free lander for domainers to use. Other than Bodis, until recently there wasn't much choice. So thank you. And thank you for always listening and considering domainers needs.

To answer your question, for my folio here is what I'm looking for:

1- Look & feel needs to be bright, crisp and clean. Dan, Sedo #15, Sudos, Efty, NameMaxi (in beta), DomainEasy, all have landers that are generally like this. Aftermarket is minimalist and looks clean and crisp. Even Atom is bright - although quite busy. NP landers are dark and depressing. They stand out among the landers for being the only ones with this dark/drab color scheme. I suppose one could argue Afternic's are dark(ish) too - but GoDaddy gets to do what it wants since it has buyer trust.
2- I prefer BIN payment options (buttons) for my buyers. Sudos, Aftermarket, et al, allow myriad buttons for buyers (Escrow & Atom) and even allow one to push to a trusted marketplace like GoDaddy or Sedo. If the buyer trusts them and wants to buy there, so be it. I love NameMaxi's approach where they show a discount if one buys direct (via Escrow).
3- Trust/credibility icons. Many of the companies show cc logos, Escrow logos, TrustPilot, etc to provide buyers with a sense of trustworthiness. DANs old page was excellent in this regard. Aftermarket & Bodis barely do but at least they show Escrow which may lend a teeny bit of credibility. Not much, but better than nada imo. Although I do prefer the cc concept (people trust their cc's). Since they can use them to pay via Escrow, if someone toggles Escrow on, we could allow cc's logos. I understand you are working on a DAN lander - and this may cover #1 & #3.
4- No data capture hurdle prior to clicking one of the BIN buttons. I do not require (nor need) name, phone, email, etc. I get many sellers do. But all my landers are BIN and as such, the data capture is an unwanted hurdle point for the buyer. Let them enter it in the cart - not before. You took a step forward allowing BIN to be shown prior to entering data. It was this enhancement that had me thinking I could/would use your landers. However, I've come to find others have competing landers and they take a different perspective on hurdle points for buyers. Not everyone utilizes BIN the way I do - many domainers utilize MO and for them, I see the need your lander serves. Bur for an all-BIN folio, it creates an unneeded and unwanted hurdle point.
5- Marketplace folio. Many of the alternate landing page companies allow us to show our total portfolio of all names listed. So if I have 100 names listed, it shows "listed by" a name we choose and if the buyer clicks that, they click through to a page that shows 100 (or a subset of 100 names thereof). This is quite helpful cross-marketing imo. Aftermarket has this, as does Sudos, Atom & Efty.
6- Contact me. I do want buyers to be able to contact me should they have questions. So I require the final button (under the payment option ones) to be a contact me button. (or some other obvious way to get in touch, should they desire).
7- Marketing copy and/or descriptive copy. I require the ability to add this info - and you obliged, currently allowing it should we desire to add it. Thank you.

To sum up, the look/feel needs significant improvement and trust icons and credibility copy (which is on almost every competing lander) needs to be added for me to utilize NP landers. Sedo #15, Afternic, DomainEasy, DAN, Sudos, and NameMaxi all have it. Aftermarket has it slightly, as their buttons lend credibility (assuming you utilize GoDaddy, Escrow, etc). Bodis has it slightly via Escrow. NP - nada.

The inquirer does get the email address the seller has linked, after verifying their email, as I understand it, so they do have a way to get in touch. And of course the seller can by email provide other contact methods if they desire. (Although I do realize you don't like that verification stage)

I think it would be beneficial to provide us with the flexibility to choose a plain white background, as well as the option to switch the background to a different color or even upload a custom image. This would allow for greater personalization and enhance the overall user experience. I notice if the landing page has an image, it takes a good while to render in.

It could be valuable to introduce a button that allows buyers to check out on bin domains through GoDaddy, similar to the landing page that Aftermarket employs.

Your gratitude is greatly appreciated. 🫶

for my folio here is what I'm looking for:
Perfectly detailed! We're going to work on several of these that make sense for us to do. 👍

Now, if you want to use a truly free lander that will: (1) always be free, (2) never charge you a commission, (3) still exist in a decade, (4) not have issues with ad blockers, and (5) continue to improve, then there's only one option:

Our professional suggestion is to use our landers, as they exist today, because they're going to get better over time and eventually be what you want.

Otherwise, you're going to keep switching between landers as the future unfolds as we outlined it, until you've finally settled on ours. That is a lot of wasted time, and time is money.

The best option is to trust that we've got you covered so that you can focus on making money. Our landers today will perform just as well for you, if not better, as all of the other options. These improvements are nice-to-have components that have a negligible impact on sales.

In any case, thank you so much for sharing your feedback. We’ll get started on it. 🙂

NamePros Landers will always be free, guaranteed. Only we can/will do that at a high level and for the long term.
The reason we are certain about this is because it costs millions of dollars, at a minimum, to build a service equivalent to Dan.com. There are no shortcuts to do that. There is no other way. That's what it costs.

Companies can spread that cost across several years, but most services won't be able to survive that long unless they charge you. And even if they charge you, most still won't make it.

That's just the nature of business.

Yeah, that can happen if the website hosting the image takes a while to respond with it.

The image is loaded directly from their website; it doesn't go through our servers at all.

That can be improved by using a fast image host.

Edited to add that we'll probably offer an option to host the images ourselves at some point.

Is Escrow.Domains fully operational? How do I swap my portfolio from Escrow.com to Escrow.Domains. Are there any differences with how they both operate, same prices and anything else? Who pays the fees?

They’re still building their API technology that will allow us to integrate their service into our landers.

As soon as they’re ready, we’ll likely be one of the first to add them. 🙂

While the buyer can dig through info and ultimately contact me, it is not clean. Here is how Aftermarket.com does it. This is clean and has the least possible friction.

Secondly; although off topic - this is better than Make Offer imho. Because Make Offer makes it sound like someone can make the min offer and it'll be considered. Contact Owner next to the BIN buttons lends itself to a slight negotiation... something like, can you offer me a discount (or other questions). This is the way I think a contact me button should be implemented.

We don't consider commission-based services to be free.

Here's a screenshot from Aftermarket's website today:

Show attachment 264671

For the services that are free at launch or currently, we have seen reports that they all plan to move to commission-based fees. Time will be the ultimate judge of truth. 😊

That said, there's nothing wrong with charging for these services. They'll be able to offer you more options and features than we can because they charge for it, and that's great, too.

Both options (free and paid) are useful so everyone can choose what works best for them. 👍

btw, I'd like to note that I spoke with the CEO of Aftermarket and have confirmed their landers are free to use. They do not charge any commission or any monthly/annual fee to use their landers. Domainers can use them free. Just like NP and Bodis allows. Aftermarket will offer enhanced services such as it's own payment solution (like EftyPay or AtomPay) and LTO to domainers where they will make money. They also offer premium brokerage services (to market high priced names through their brokers for negotiation purposes). But the Aftermarket.com base lander - which has similar functionality to NP and Bodis is free. The CEO mentioned they will never go back to a subscription model like Efty or Sudos.

So now domainers have no less than 3 free choices:

NamePros
Bodis
Aftermarket.com
It is also possible there will be one more, as NameMaxi has a free lander in beta.

I'm not sure what NP gets out of pushing it's landers so hard (and pooh poohing the rest). I asked them this on X and they told me it's because "they want me to succeed". Sounds great. But success can also come by offering and discussing the myriad options avail (esp since NP makes no money off this and never will). Since it's a cost center to them, there would be no losses should one of us (or many of us) decide to use one of the competing free services. So I struggle to understand the hard sales pitch for their own landers and the negativity surrounding the other free landers. Each has positives and each has negatives. This salesy push solely for their own landers which make them no money, perplexes me.

That said, I am looking forward to the NP enhancements. If they are able to enhance their look/feel and increase the level of customizability, I may utilize their landers.
