All of a sudden, today, "real time" views are at any given time today in the hundreds when normally there are < 10 and usually its under 5 within the past 30-min. So something is definitely different today.
They're bots or bot farms. Boardman, Burnaby, Dublin, Council Bluffs, Ashburn, and all of the Eastern block countries are useless stats.

The important stats are time-on-site.

A lot of the tools that are used by domain investors themselves to check how many domain extensions have developed websites, also regularly crawl our landers.

just wondering if you have noticed an increase on landers?
Yes, it began around the time we improved support for https:// access on subdomains of parked domains.

It's a little technical, but here's an attempt to explain it simply:

We noticed that a lot of second-level subdomains and beyond (e.g., third.second.first.example.com) were from bot traffic and were using up our allotted security certificates for each domain, so we shifted all of that excess availability to first-level subdomains only (e.g., first.example.com).

As a result, parked domains are now receiving more traffic on single-level subdomains (e.g., single.example.com and single.example.co.uk) and less bot traffic from the other levels (e.g., other.first.example.com and other.first.example.co.uk).

The important stats are time-on-site.
That's indeed an important metric that can be tracked in Google Analytics.

Here's how Brandpa is measuring this on their marketplace and landers.

(I don't know whether these advanced stats are still made available to Sellers, because I currently don't see them in the Brandpa Dashboard. Only the basic number of views within the Brandpa marketplace and number of views originating from external search / direct lander visits.)

In this business, stats are king. The more stats, the better. Google Analytics is for companies with many visits and a sizeable website.

As domainers, we have different needs. Most importantly, we need to assess if our domains are attracting interest so we can make enlightened decisions when renewals come around.

I hope NamePros realizes this importance and can go well beyond what other marketplaces offer.

We aren't seeing much change in this across the board today, but one of your domains may be experiencing a traffic spike (e.g., a news website may have linked to your domain by accident).

Is there a single domain under "Views by Page title" accounting for most of that increase in real-time traffic?

Not really one domain in particular, it seems as if it was an across the board spike.

Here is Oct-10-2024 (685 views) compared to Oct-11-2024 (4,611 views) from one day to the next. Typical views per domain are usually less than 30 but spiked up on Oct-11 for some reason and its not the only time I've seen this since 27-July when I began using GA. There have been several spike days during that 2 1/2 months.

Maybe it coincides with solar storms, who knows. :ROFL:

@NorthernDomains mentioned that time-on-site is the metric to look at so that is what I am going to do going forward.

BTW, most of the traffic originates from the same spots (in no order):

What is interesting is how one domain (many of them actually) will have visits from these locations all within minutes of each visit during the same hour. For example, on 2024-10-11 at 2200 hours one of the 380 domains was visited what seems like rapid-fire from:

Lytkarino, Russia
Paris, France
Ashburn, VA (USA)
Boardman, OR (USA)
(not set), Seychelles
Midlothian, IL (USA)
New York, NY (USA)
Santa Clara, CA (USA)
Sao Paulo, Brazil
Xinxiang, China
Dublin, Ireland
Winter Park, FL (USA)

Some will be visited more and some less. It has to be some sort of services checking, even bots perhaps.

Yet another question...

As your authorization does not include a long-term soft option (where the DNS TXT is authorized once) what happens if a domain listed through NP expires and the registrar cuts off the DNS?

Does it just go offline (as it would on Dan or Afternic) or does something happen on the NP backend in response, such as suspension or deletion of this domain name?

I ask because I regularly do reevaluations of expiring domains to ensure they are worth renewing and sometimes I'm late getting the renewal in, so there is some "dead air" in between. On Dan, GD. Afternic, Sedo, etc. (soft authorizations) it's no problem, but your method seems a bit more day-by-day.

Best case scenario: nothing happens.

Worst case scenario: the domain becomes unverified but still accepts offers from visitors to it. Once you verify it again (or we automatically verify it again), all inquiries that occurred while the domain was unverified will appear in your account for you.

Our service always accepts offers on domains to avoid missing potential leads before the domain is verified or re-verified.

... most of them are deployed to test & record (for a legit reason) payment integration/gateway (buy now, order now, etc button links)

for example Boardman, OR (USA) could be Stripe bot via AWS hydro-powered data center.

Can you add a place where we can cross promote our other names? A link to our portfolio? Maybe with some marketing copy... "Discover more premium names available for sale"?

I'd want to toggle this on/off by name - so only having it show on a subset of my names promoted on NP landers

Another problem with these landing pages is that they are blank in regards to "trust" logos. No accredited BBB, no Escrow logo, no paypal logo, no cc logos, no trustpilot score, etc. Now I understand some sellers don't accept Escrow or Paypal and may push to Atom, Sedo, or whomever for payment. I realize their is no "trustpilot" for namepros, etc. But the blank page just is missing this concept, and if I were a buyer, I'd be hesitant. Even BrandBucket has told me that buyers pay 25% more to buy from Afternic/GoDaddy even after finding the name with them because they don't "trust' BB as much as GoDaddy. So the question is - how can we add something to this page to make it more "trustworthy"? Bodis describes Escrow.com. Afternic has the GoDaddy logo and phone #, and states "simple, secure, and fast transfer". Dynadot lists all the cc's they accept. I think we should consider adding something to this page. Happy to brainstorm what and how we can add something in this area

The team is currently busy with imports because it's requiring a massive rewrite of that process and related options.

Yep, both of these are pending an update thanks to feedback from others.

Typically, these would have been updated in an hour or two, but due to the large rewrite that is taking place to support imports, we're unable to do non-emergency updates until that's finished.

We'll get these both updated as soon as we can.
