NamePros is down often?

It seems that this forum is down quite often & also get messages that the server is too busy at this moment. I am on the forum & everything's fine, then I open up a new thread, & then get a "Can't access site" message, refresh the page a few times, then maybe about 2 minutes later after a few more refreshes, it comes back.

Are many people here experiencing the same thing as well?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

well, i think -RJ- actually runs 2 servers, think about it tho, theres 55,000 members, plus the guests viewing the board, thats alot of server load ;)

I've been here for a long time and disagree completely. With all of the traffic and bandwidth that passes through this website, NamePros is online a large majority of the time.

Not all 55,000 members are visiting all the time ;)

i have always experienced downtime. And when the site is a bit busy, I need to switch from FF to Opera.

Switching browsers makes absolutely no sense in terms of making a website load if it's having problems.

I've never had problems. :]

Opera handles slow connection better than FF imho. FF doesn't work hard to fetch a page when slow connection occurs. When the I experienced slow connection with Nampepros, FF can't view the page. But with Opera, I can still view the page, it takes times of course.

Based at the time you posted this, it was probably the full server backup we do every night. It takes the site mostly down for about 5-6 minutes while it mirrors the SQL databases. I try to do it at the slowest time of the day - between 5 and 7 PM EDT.

Yeah, FireFox is very quick to jump to the "Connection Timed Out" error and stop trying to load the page. ;)

That would explain it then. Guess I must be coming on at the wrong time, doh :hehe:

I occasionally cannot access the site either, but I never let it phase me as I know the site is either being backed-up or its just my ISP. I disconnect and reconnect and its fine.
