I got a couple of appraisals done by NameBoy.com - how accurate would you say that these services are?

nameboy isnt accurate at all
the best appraisal you will have is from the people here (the human appraisal)...
there is one site that is used (estibot) that gives a reasonable appraisals many times but as i said the best one is from domainers

Nameboy is pretty inaccurate .. I can easily find domains they appraise for 5-6000$ and they are not worth more than the reg fee.
They give way too many points for search results.

Estibot is pretty accurate but I get also some weird values from time to time.

DomainValuation is only looking for specific keywords and rank dictionary words pretty high no matter what extension it is.

i wouldn't put too much on automated appraisal sites - they're all grossly overstated.

Computer generated appraisals are no good. Simply based on length and characters not looking at a market or anything of the sort. Very very inaccurate

In my opinion (disclaimer to avoid defamation), this service is just a silly waste of time.

OTOH, I have seen even worse appraisals. At this point the only one worth using at all is estibot. Take the results from estibot with a grain of salt, and exercise due diligence in domain valuation. Sometimes it is high, sometimes low.

As mentioned above, the best appraisals are the ones you will get in the appraisal section of this board. Sometimes I even pay for appraisals just to get another view, but overall the best source is the free appraisal room here.

I agree, certainly! The best domain appraisal is an appraisal made by humans, research manually over extension, popularity, marketability, etc. An automatic bot, even if its so complicated, or a robot can't do this to certain extent. :tu:
