domain Nameboy appraisal tool

Is the nameboy tool accurate at all? I ran a couple of mine through it and it said one was worth 5,000 and one 8,000. seems a little steep

Post those names here & you will get a true appraisal. If it's an auto appraisal tool then they are more than likely not worth the time. One of the better ones is estibot, but they should only be used as an aid to help you self determine the value.
