Name.com will not add 1 year to transfer

...on Sept 8, 2013, I regged Chicago.im at Dynadot. Yesterday, I transferred it out to Name.com but Name.com will not give me an extra year.

I dunno why this would be since it has done the same with all the other .im names I have. I have written and although polite, they steadfastly refuse to give me that year, saying something about renewal and 45 days. I would understand it if I renewed it but this is the first time I had this name and at any rate 9-8-2013 to 11-10-2013 is more than 45 days.

I got three letters from them and all it is translating to is "tough luck".

I guess I am out of luck with them as they do not see that I did nothing different than what I usually do. Oh well, 10 bucks is not a lot but I don't know why I lost the year. I guess someone can explain it to me if it wasn't a glitch on their side but until then I am at a loss...

That's odd. Is this specific to .im, or a general policy at Name.com?

Most people these days assume its a given that a receiving registrar would extend your registration for another year, otherwise, what would be the point of transferring to them.

I had no problem with the other .im domain names I transferred there. That is why I do not understand it...

...Name.com has determined that I was legitimately allowed another year with the transfer and acted accordingly.

My thanks to their team with handling the issue in a timely and professional manner...
