Guys,
as far as i'm aware we don't have an official N-N-N.com thread
Obviously the lists are all over the forum & mentioned in many threads, in particular the L-L-L.com thread

Thought would start this thread as in some ways is the most exciting as we can watch them run out.
It will be like watching the LLL.mobi's go all over again.

Difference is, rather than 17k possibilities, there are only 1000 posibilities.

I don't pretend to be an expert on Number Domains
I welcome domainers who are, i know of a few who have added fantastic inputs re: N-N-N.coms

In my opinion these will run out first, obviously because of th rarity, but also beacuse Asian domainers in particular just love to trade these babies. Number domains in general.
Of course number domains are huge over there
I've noticed imo, there could be a hot demand for radio numbers (stn's), as it stands, they have some hideous domains lol. They need! some of our domains. lol

You only need 10 X N-N-N.COM'S TO OWN YOUR VERY OWN 1% OF THE ENTIRE POSSIBLE AMOUNT!

I don't think that's what he's talking about. He's just saying that buying a long keyword with hyphens in between doesn't make as much sense as short L-L-L that might be a keyword.

There are 17,576 L-L-L.com compared to only 1000 N-N-N. Very few people can own one!

Hmmm....... You can scroll back through but the prior post I had replied to seemed to suggest that someone who owned an NNN for $xxx,xxx would probably buy the N-N-N for $x,xxx ... cause why not?

That was me.
I was just saying that if I paid that much for a NNN.com I would try to add the N-N-N.com to my portfolio. It doesn't have to be developed. I would just not want anyone else to be able to own a domain that is soo similar to the domain I just paid $100,000 for.

There may come a time when it would be useful to own both. For me I would just want that base covered.
That's just me though. I like numerics more than the Chinese

Well then you may be in the minority, I doubt anyone here in this thread that owns a N-N-N has received an offer from the corresponding NNN holder, they just don't care about the hyphen, yes you are correct, it is another entry into numerics but it's like the seconds or thirds trying out to be one of the first's. I think this tread can only go so far because it really is limited market with not many sales happening at this point.

Cab be easily developed into some business, actually in this thread one member listed number of sites developed, look it up, taken than there's only 1000 domains in category and it's digital domains, number of sites developed is HUGE.

I agree I'm probably the only one who would go for both. I think I have a problem!

I don't think I will ever get an offer from the NNN owner, but that's not what I'm going for. They don't need it that is for sure. I just look at it as a numeric niche that is under-valued in my eyes. I don't really see the hyphens when looking at them. I just look at the numbers. Same when looking at the L-L-L but I'm not into them as much.

I don't have the funds to go after a NNN.com or a NNNN.com and have to play the other markets. It's like buying penny stocks compared to buying google stock.

The chinese market will continue to grow and sales of numerics seem more normal than they used to be.
More players are jumping into the game everyday.
Very few people outside of the chinese market were buying numeric domains. Now I bet there's hardly a person on Namepros that doesn't own a numeric domain.
Buying tons of 6N and 7N domains can get very pricey. I like the rarity of N-N-N but that also hurts them due to low sales and ownership potential. Everyone on NP can own a 5N or 6N.com. Few can own the N-N-N.

Short and rare is what you always here adds value. That is what I'm going for these days. I do own some 5N, 6N, and even 7N.com but can't justify renewing to many in one niche like that, specially when they are not that rare or short.
Few can own a NNN, LLL, or even a NNNN and LLLL now. Once the market has taken off in that niche, it prices many people out of it. Domains in that niche get bought up and put into the portfolios of large companies.
If google came out tomorrow and said they bought a N-N-N, the market would change instantly. Even if the domain king added one to his portfolio, the market would change over night. Those are some what if's and maybes, but it can happen. More and more companies are adding domains to their portfolio that they will never use. It only takes 1 to change the game.

The Chinese market is still in it's infancy and they do own some N-N-N domains. They at some point will want to acquire most, if not all, numeric domains in each niche. They now own a huge % of the NNN and NNNN markets. There are few that can purchase in the NNN space. That is what drove them into the NNNN.com space and beyond. No one would be buying 5N.com if there were 4N.com available. Once the buyouts happen, people can only buy what they can find and afford.

Just like 6N domains, I'm only adding some N-N-N to diversify my portfolio. Compared to the prices of some 5N and 6N domains, N-N-N is a cheap hedge.

This is the key to just about any domain name. Is it short? Is it memorable?
If it is both, then there will ALWAYS be a market for it!
Now if you add rarity to that equation, there will always be a market for the domain and the market has more of a chance to increase in value. There are only so many NNN.com. That is what drives there value. They are short, rare, and easy to remember.
They are not keywords likes business.com so there are many uses for them that we might not even see today.
People were hand reg'n NNN at some time. A long time ago yes, but many didn't see their value and overlooked them going after keyword.com
They don't have to have a use today, because they are short, rare, and easy to remember.
Who is going to remember a random 5N or 6N domain without a pattern? I'm not saying they don't have value because they do. Just pointing out the easy to remember.

The price difference between a 3N.com and a 6N.com is based on the shortness, ease to remember and rarity. N-N-N.com is still only 5 characters, but only 3 numbers, making somewhat short, but easier to remember than a 5N or 6N without a very good pattern.

I could see N-N-N hitting $1000 each before I see NNN hitting $10million each.

There might not be a huge market for N-N-N, but the higher the price goes for NNN.com, there is less of a market that can afford them also.

Well there is the whole risk vs reward. And everything is relative.

The risk of buying an NNN now and it going down to 0 are nil. You won't lose your investment. How much you make or lose and how fast are certainly up for grabs.

But N-N-N... You could very well invest and lose your investment because they have no value. On the other hand, someone could come along an offer you $1k and you make out like a bandit.

Risk vs reward is always a factor with any investment.

For me rare+.com +short. ( 3 vs 5 ) Although Hyphens have value for other reasons, It's a hack on a pure play.

They are not selling because they are locked up in portfolios. I think other owners see potential value in them or they would be on the market for reg fee or they would be dropping at some point. We are not seeing them drop like 5N and 6N.com even though there is a ton of value in 5N and 6N.com.

They are also over looked by most investors due to no current sales data. When there are sales, things can change fast. They will eventually get bought up and put into these large portfolios of domains that are starting to change hands. That seems to be a trend that is going on with LLLL and NNNN domains. I see that trend extending into all niche markets at some point.

I would love to see the whois data on N-N-N.com. Is china a big player in this niche? Will they ever become a large player in this niche? They love numbers, so I see that happening.

They are not at $1000 yet. I do see them hitting that mark and higher eventually. There is something different about numerics that letters don't allow for. If you have JOB.com, that limits endusers to that keyword market. The NNN is a pure investment play that doesn't follow the keyword.com enduser markets. Any business can be made up using a number domain. They can be branded into a business and used for anything. Letters and specially keywords have limits due purely to their meaning like JOB.com. It is only a 3 letter, but they limit that domain to the JOB market.

Number domains can/are/will be used like a currency between large corps and businesses. Number domains are being bought/sold/traded like a form or digital currency right now. This will happen on a larger and larger scale as time goes on. That is what I see happening when I step back and look at number domains into the future.

Our children won't be able to hand reg a 10N.com i the near future nor will they be able to afford a NNN.com!
There has to be a market somewhere in there for N-N-N.com domains. What part N-N-N plays in that market is the unknown. We can only go on our gut feelings at this point. I'm not a flipper, I'm a long-term investor so I look at things differently than most people on the forum.

They are not selling because they are locked up in portfolios. I think other owners see potential value in them or they would be on the market for reg fee or they would be dropping at some point. We are not seeing them drop like 5N and 6N.com even though there is a ton of value in 5N and 6N.com.

They are also over looked by most investors due to no current sales data. When there are sales, things can change fast. They will eventually get bought up and put into these large portfolios of domains that are starting to change hands. That seems to be a trend that is going on with LLLL and NNNN domains. I see that trend extending into all niche markets at some point.

I would love to see the whois data on N-N-N.com. Is china a big player in this niche? Will they ever become a large player in this niche? They love numbers, so I see that happening.

They are not at $1000 yet. I do see them hitting that mark and higher eventually. There is something different about numerics that letters don't allow for. If you have JOB.com, that limits endusers to that keyword market. The NNN is a pure investment play that doesn't follow the keyword.com enduser markets. Any business can be made up using a number domain. They can be branded into a business and used for anything. Letters and specially keywords have limits due purely to their meaning like JOB.com. It is only a 3 letter, but they limit that domain to the JOB market.

Number domains can/are/will be used like a currency between large corps and businesses. Number domains are being bought/sold/traded like a form or digital currency right now. This will happen on a larger and larger scale as time goes on. That is what I see happening when I step back and look at number domains into the future.

Our children won't be able to hand reg a 10N.com i the near future nor will they be able to afford a NNN.com!
There has to be a market somewhere in there for N-N-N.com domains. What part N-N-N plays in that market is the unknown. We can only go on our gut feelings at this point. I'm not a flipper, I'm a long-term investor so I look at things differently than most people on the forum.

While I applaud your optimism... 10N is 9.9 billion domains and, frankly, I would be really surprised if my children (ages 6 and 7) wouldn't be able to register any 10N.

you forgot the zero. there is 10 billion combos.
I agree there may be 10N available in 10yrs. Now 8N and below will be hard to find and definitely no 7N will be avail for reg fee. One large company or investment firm can change things quickly.
