Hi guys

I would like to get some feedback for my new site. It is 95% complete, just tweaking here and there.

Any comments, good or bad are welcome and appreciated as long as they are constructive :)

www.mypokerstake.com

Thanks in advance!

David

Thany you for your comments, rep points added :)

We are trying to make the site as content rich as possible. Some parts of our service are still not fully explained in my opinion, so we will be looking at the best way to present the info next. Lots of additional coding work to be done also!

Nice design, its simple and is appealing to my eyes. Content looks full and everything is organized.

Very nice template!

Looks very professional, only things I could find were that the front sliding image is a bit short for the area it's in and on info pages you have the wordpress "uncategorised" sections showing. I'd suggest to remove that (or categorise the content :P)

Good luck!

As a poker player and domainer, I really like the site! Its clean, simple, professional and descriptive - which is more than I can say for the majority of training sites. Do you have other examples of your work?

Hi

Yeah, I am thinking of putting a ticker showing testimonials in the space underneath the jQuery slider. We have a lot of good reviews, so it would be nice to get them shown near the header.

I'll remove that category now, and make sure articles are properly categorised in the future, thanks for that :)

Hi

It is my own business. I am not a developer myself, so I don't have other stuff to show off. Some of what we offer can be fairly complex, so it took quite a while to work out how to display it in a simple and easy to understand way. Part of the development process was to storyboard things on paper before putting them into code. And not being afraid to throw something away if it didn't work once it was coded!

How long did it take? A suggestion with the logo/avatar(s) - the font and coloring does not mix well imo. When scaled down, its really hard to tell that it reads MPS with the current combo. Maybe make it a solid black? Just my two cents =)

It's a good looking site, bud. The only thing I would suggest doing is changing the text at the bottom from "Great VIP Scheme" to "Great VIP Program"... scheme makes it sound like scam.

Nice site, clean logo, great layout, nice graphics, love almost all of it, the only thing that bothered me was when I was trying to read some of the text, I found it hard as it was nearly as gray as the background. I would not necessarily make it black (#000000, like the titles) but I would kick the level of black up a bit to make it easier to read.

Other than that looks great, maybe make the image on the front page that rotates a bit bigger to line up with the last bit on the right about support. There is an akward blank space under the rotating image, but that is a bit nit picky.

Great job! I can see you have put a lot of work into that site and it shows.

Hey. Didn't know you were a member here :)

Yeah, good point actually. I'll do just that.

I sort of agree with the jQuery slider. Someone else mentioned it and I tried putting something underneath, but then the top of the page looked cluttered.

I'll look at the txt further. That said I am pretty colourblind and don't have an issue with it. Maybe I need to see it on some lower res/smaller monitors?

LOL. I made the avatars myself from a logo I had made, maybe I need to run a comp here for some new ones. Think you are right about them :)

The design itself took a couple of weeks. The actual site backend is a very complex database system to handle a lot of different operations such as financial data, coaching session bookings, player management and admin. Probably 1k hours in total coding.

I have asked my coder for a few changes based on the above comments. Nothing radical, just some minor tweaks, i'll post when they have been done :)

Thanks again for the comments.
