I understand the Retail-Reseller distinction, but still can't get my head around the Reseller hierarchy. Reason I'm asking, is that I see .info avail to *Direct* Resellers for $1.95. When I go to checkout, my price is $3.95.

I have a $6.95 Reseller acct that I purchased several mos back. My rate chart is $6.95 for most of the regs and transfers. I need to deposit funds and maintain a balance for transactions. What kind of Resellers account is this?

My reseller acct was set up seperately from my original retail account, which still exists. I have only have 1 name in this original account, which is due for renewal. Can I push to my reseller acct and close the original retail acct, or do I need to renew and than push? :-/

To be honest, I have used eNom for 4 years now and still can't figure out what you just asked. I became an ETP with a $695 deposit 3 years ago and haven't looked back.

Since then, I have spent well over $7,000 with eNom at $8.95 pricing but that doesn't bother me since eNom has the best scripting for volume domain management. It is always good to be an ETP, no complications whatever, besides the fact that you get your own "registrar" name on .COM and .NET whois. Very cool.

Penny wise, pound foolish - if you have sleepless nights whether one registrar charges you $2-3 less for a domain, this is a very sound predictor that you may not have the resources and mental fortitude needed to win in this game except for luck.

Go for the best. eNom is very fair in pricing and extremely solid in domain management utilities. Tried many other registrars (due to drops) in the past, and honestly, nothing compares when you prefer pure substance to hype.

I had a successful 25+year career in the TV/Film "biz" which has provided me w/ both resources and brass balls, but good advice, nevertheless.
The $1.95-$3.95 info was given to aid to help figure out what reseller level I am at.
"Direct" "Parent" "Sub-Reseller Account", "Sub-Account", "Indirect Sub-Parent Re-Subseller PDQ EPT TLC Special Technical Partner Account"- whatever. I can't make heads or tails out of what account I have, when I try to decipher this info off the eNom site.
I just renewed a name there yesterday, and do get a sense of stability and have a feeling that I will like them even more once I get accustomed to their interface and defenitions, which is the reason that I have not done more biz w/ them as well as the purpose of this post.

Enom ETP resellers are direct resellers of Enom and get their support from enom. They can then create subresellers and retail accounts who they are required to offer the first line of support. The subresellers can then create more levels on down the line. If you have a $6.95 account, and you didn't pay $6950 to get it (1000 domain years), you are a grandfathered sub reseller. Current sub-resellers can't price below $8.95 for retail or reseller accounts, although some do offer lower prices "after rebate" to get around this, and rebate part of the fees back.

Yes, you can push names between reseller and retail acounts, and I keep my personal domains in separate accounts than my sellable ones. I push them to the cheaper one for renewal then push back when done. If you are a reseller, you can create retail accounts under your reseller account for this purpose for simplification. As a reseller, you are responsible for the first line of support for accounts under yours, but can defer or get support upstream. If you are 10 levels deep, this could get dicey.

There is another class of enom reseller such as registerfly.com and I think namecheap. They are independent and use enom's registrar base, but you can't push names between them. They also use their own scripts and control panels independent of enoms. From their pricing, I would assume they get better than the ETP pricing for the bulk that they do, but enom does not offer any support to the registrants.
