Just registered

symantic.ws

symantic has 1239 searches per day on WordTracker.
symantic has 73 searches per day on Overtrure.

What do you guys think is the value for this domain name.

Not selling right now, Just happy with this great find and wanted to get some feedback on appraisal.

I think I am also going to get decent number of Ads on adsense and hopefully get some revenue from there also.

thanks all,

reg fee, imo. this name won't receive any type-ins, and if you're planning to do SEO, then you might as well have gone for "symantec" in some other cctld.

hmmm... interesting.

Although I am new to web site marketing business, I know mistyped domains is a big business.

So for example when people pay big $$$$ for mistype domains, (like the recent mega "download" mistype sales)
they will not get any traffic from the mistypes on the search engines???

The buyer in that sale was counting on mistypes of download.com (i.e., people actually typing in the domain name Downlaod.com in their web browsers), not search engine hits. No one will mistype it as Downlaod.ws (currently available, by the way :p).

If you are going after search engine hits, then it would have been better to go after the correct spelling of symantec in another cctld. Of course there are TM issues, but 'symantic' has TM issues as well, if you're trying to capture traffic from people searching for symantec.

sorry but i think with .ws this is reg fee only

good point, Armstrong. You are a pro.

I don't think symanitc has TM issues (specially because symantic.com is a porn site). Anyhow, I will play with it for SEO over the next couple of months. I will let you know how it goes.

BTW, I am still excited. I have a single word domian which is being searched more than 1000 times a day. Now all I need is to funnel that traffic in, I will be happy even with 10% of traffic, which seems to be a very difficult task, but thats half the fun.

Agree, low wholesale value, .com typos only as Apollo mentioned above.

Definately an interesting strategy. Like the others have said, you won't get type-ins unless its a .com, but using a typo ccTLD like this to optimize for a typo term in search engine results -- that could work just as good.

Best of luck.

its not entirely true that you only get type-ins under .com.

here in sweden you could get a lot of (swedish) type-ins on a domain under .se that has their "master" site under .com for example. depending on the name and market. you need to be quite aware what works and what does not, in sweden. most of the companies decide to register under .se a.s.a.p (as for example symantec.se).

anyway, I think under .ws this name is definately $x / reg fee.

I would not waste my money on .WS, .CC and other less popular extension. ALWAYS prioritize .COM, ALWAYS.
