Music in flash question

i need to put some music in a flash animation what is the best file format to use? mp3? wav? etc etc

as Flash has mp3 streaming built in you are better using .MP3 than .WAV, file sizes are generally a lot smaller as well for .MP3

MP3 is a compressed but good sounding version of WAV. The sizes of MP3 are way smaller. If you use WAV the flash intro will take longer to load (unless small animation).

Also keep in mind what Sync property you set your audio too. Using the right one for the right occasion can also save you file size. Only use Stream if you need to match movement with sound, like a lip sync.

Definitely mp3. Nice compression, nice sound. That's all I use in my Flash stuff.

Also watch the audio quality. If you publish with it set to "low" you'll get substandard audio. Try it on "Medium" and if it's still too gritty push it up to "high" (of course this will raise your .swf file size also).
