    Hello and Assalamo Alaikum,

It’s been really busy last few months but very exciting at the same time as well. Due to hectic schedule, I was unable to post much but I think things are settling down a bit at my end from now on wards.

I’m very happy to share that I’ve moved to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on permanent basis this month with my family. I also wanted to tell that I’ll continue working as domain investor as this is my sole business. So as of this month, currently I’ve 3,200 domains in portfolio.

Some might think it’s very risky to move straightaway with family and be doing only domain investing. I know it was tough decision to think of moving with family and doing solely domain investing because of the cost of living is pretty high compare to Pakistan. I tend to agree at some extent but what’s a lively life without taking any risks yeah 😉

So here I’m in Malaysia. If any domainer residing in Kuala Lumpur or any part of Malaysia, feel free to get in touch with me and we shall meet soon.

The main purpose of sharing is that I'm solely dependent on domaining and it is possible to live in any part of the world doing this wonderful business. One has to be passionate, dedicated, consistent and have load of patience.

Thanks for reading and feel free to comment if you like to.

Congratulations on the move, AbdulBasit. The entire SoutAsean region is going through rapid economic growth and Kuala Lumpur is also on the move. Great decision. All the best.

Impressive @AbdulBasit.com, thank you for sharing. Will you be so kind to share which factors made you chose Malaysia over other countries (also popular for relocation) of this region?

    Thanks! Glad you like it.

At first, there are numerous reasons for moving out of my country (Pakistan) which I'm sure one would easily know by searching a bit. No safety, security, clean water, electricity outages, good education, future to name a few.

For choosing Malaysia, I didn't had many options at my hand to select from. The value of our Pakistani passport is 2nd or 3rd from the bottom of world passport rankings. I know we as nation deserve that. May be some would disagree with me but that's their wish but I cannot hide any true picture of anything I'm aware of. I know it's not I'm proud of but it is what it is.

NICE, I'm going to FINALLY start visiting Asia next year because there is where I belive I have the highest chances of moving permanently to, ranked would probably be: Philippines, Indonesia (damn those earthquakes), Vietnam, Thailand (a lot of foreigners here, but I can't exclude it) & Singapore if I'll have the money.
That's my motivation at this moment.

    Very happy for you!

When I read tax in your response, I recalled about tax in Malaysia and it's very attractive and good to live here for someone whose income is generated from foreign. So in short, there is NO tax on foreign income in Malaysia!

    Thanks!
I think among those countries you mentioned, Philippines is the best choice.

Congratulations on your move @AbdulBasit.com, and I hope that your new home is everything that you hope for it. Thanks for keeping us updated, and thank you for the way you contribute so positively to NamePros!

I particularly liked this quote - something that we can overlook as an advantage of domains as a main or only career.
Would like to hear in this thread from others who are into largely full time domaining and used the geographical freedom to move to a new location.

    With best wishes.

    Bob

Tax is a huge factor that some may not think of until they're doing their taxes in the new country.

    Many thanks Bob!

Really like the way you say anything to anyone. You definitely feel what you're writing it (y)

Yes, it would definitely be nice and exciting to see what others have to say doing full time domaining.

Wish you and your family the best with your new adopted home.

I agree that the constant threat of conflict and War has put a damper on the economical growth and safety of that region. It's sad to see that the regional hostilities are escalating and wasting all the energy and efforts that otherwise should be going into making a better life for people. The Nuclear stand off between India and Pakistan has gotten very serious to the point that smart productive people in both countries have no choice but to flee out of fear for their family's safety and security. As thousands of people are being killed or made to migrate out of that region from Syria all the way to Pakistan it makes one wonder if there is any hope for Humanity at large to be able to ascend to a higher level of existence that can put an end to all these misery and waste both as far as social and environmental problems and issues.

PS: You should have come here to Texas, the economy is booming and the people are friendly (although you have to be a little quick to the draw :) ).

I totally agree with you. If everything was normal in my country, there was no reason to move out. But with no better future, it's waste of everything living in such a place.

It's not easy for Pakistanis to get permanent access to U.S these days but may be I'll have a visit in future :)

Best of luck with your recent move :)

Domaining is a tough business for most people, especially when it comes to being the only source of income, but given your very nice domain portfolio I can imagine that you will manage :-D

Welcome to Malaysia and I am sure you and your family will love this country. I don't think there are many or any domain investors in Malaysia. I know none even though I have first register domains more than 25 years ago.
Somehow , Malaysian don't value their own domain and internet identity, I sold less than 10 domains thru secondary market to Malaysian in all these years.
Good thing about Malaysia, u are not taxed from foreign incomes
All the best and hope u continue to be successful in domaining.
