As there's several Moniker users here... probably the good place to ask :great:

I am very much considering to give Moniker a go because of the many good reviews I read about them, and when emailing them to test the rapidness of their support I was very pleasantly surprised as well.

I was wondering, did anyone try their webmail feature yet? The domain I am considering buying would be for email purpose, I was first thinking of using it via Gmail Hosted but maybe it'd be handy enough to have the registrar hosting the mailbox just as well.

Does anyone know if Moniker's email program is reliable and stable? Is it as secure as the registration part of the service?

Gerrit, i have not yet made use of their email program, but i can guarantee you will be very happy if you choose them for your registration needs. Send me a pm and i'll inform you of the way to get their discounted pricing :D

btw, i currently have 2 domains setup with gmail hosted and haven't had any problems yet. if you email purpose is strickly personal/private business, gmail hosted is worth the shot. if you want to provide it as a paying service, i would find another solution.

good luck!

I totally agree with lordsafkad.
Personally I tried many mail hosting solutions for my own email domain. I would not recommend to use a registrar's webmail feature.
I tried MSN live for my own domains, gmail hosted and runbox.
Gmail has the best feature. They use pop3 but when I send an email on webmail interface, I can still retrieve the sent message through outlook, which is my favorite feature. I like to use outlook to backup.
If you like to use some extra features like file storage or cellphone services, runbox is the one you should try. You can try for free for 30 days.

I don't need a top-of-the-bill mailbox with cellphone access and such, just a reliable webmail/POP3 (I prefer Outlook at home, but leaving copies of the mails in the webmail so that I can re-read my mails from other computers)

Is it easy to set up the domain with Gmail Hosted? Do you need to move the domain away from the registrar's server (where I'd like to let the domain to have it pointing at my website)?
