Me too, although I put a lowish reserve for a name I thought should go to low $xxxx - sold at half that with 1 bid- which I think applied to most names- again

When the auctions for around 5k names end at the same you might expect it to be a better opportunity for buying than for selling. The worst thing you can do is submit domains with reserves that are below your expectations as there is simply too much on offer (compared to the number of buyers) for bidding wars to arise. I have not seen many in this auction anyway.

I had AmericanFootball.com up for auction with a reserve of $40k. It did not sell, however I did end up buying Verdi.com for $5k which was only slightly above its reserve.

I'm paranoid and would never list names in one of these "industry" no reserve private auctions.

What's to keep a group of bigger players making a gentlemens agreement to slice the pie up to get names on the cheap.

You know, "I'll bid up to $300 on this one, don't out bid me, or even enter the auction on this one.
OK and "Don't you guys out bid me on the ones I want," etc,etc,etc.

The big sales come into play only when an outsider, or two, get involved in bidding. :imho:
