Calling all techno geeks! If you were advising a person who knew nothing about website development on the best way to get started in such an endeavor, what would you tell him? Should he use a standardized template like that which is available through Go Daddy? Should he attempt to hire a developer? What is the best way to find a competant developer? What do developers generally charge for their services? I have ideas for some sites but have no idea how to get started and since I do not have an unlimited budget I want to get the most for my money. Thanks for your help!

ill tell about what ive experienced since october/2006
i knew nothing about development and i still know a few things about it but u can leran if u want to -> w3schools and developer's home
i like these sites and u can begin to study using them.
if u want to develop sth now and depending on what kind of name u have u can try MobiSiteGalore cuz it is easy and u have to know nothing about development
here u can find some people that develop .mobi (look for them in the threads talking about development)
