Redesigned my site in a minimalistic form

Hi,

I completely redesigned my website bringing it to the 3.0 version.

http://www.silvestrorugolo.com

Any feedback is appreciated (you can also compare to old versions).

Thanks,

Silvestro.

Nice, good job, the only thing I would complain about is that a new window opens, quite annoying.

Thanks for the comment.

I agree with you, but I'm worried about people clicking the back on the browser rather than in the flash application; Moreover, the window just popups at the size needed by the site.

What you think?

thank,

S.

I am not a fan of flash sites... but have you thought about searchability? As far as I am aware, flash sites arent catalogues in the major search engines(?)

Just a thought!

Really nice design though - but I agree with the others, if users want a new page open they open it themselves...

Hi, thank you for the message. Actually, the site is searchable (metatag are put into the HTML that contains the flash). It is indexed since 4/5 years ago at the major search engines.

I have an index file ready with no popup, but I'm afraid that some people get confused with clicking the back on the browser bar rather than into the flash. The Flash interface really don't need address bar and so on and you can easily have your old window when you finish your experience in the gallery by closing the popup. Why is the popup son annoying? It is not an ad it's just a way, for a designer, to put a frame to its work...

What you think?

Thanks again,

S.

You shouldn't be a fan ;) but you should not focus on the technology, but on the result. Today flash is the only technology that lets developers and designers focus on the result and not on the platform. If you use javascript and HTML, the result is quite unpredictable today when you change platform/browser (unless you're going to use just static things).

Btw I tried to use flash in this way (at least in the last two versions...), focusing on the message and purpose.

Thank you for your message,

S.
