The domain was previously owned by Rolf Herken. I can't find any recent information about him but it's possible he has passed, that is a common cause of these high value domains dropping. An estate may not know anything about the digital assets of the deceased, and/or the estate may not act quickly enough to secure them. Not an exact comparable in terms of value, but mi5.com dropped earlier this year following the death of the owner (and went to auction with DropCatch).
