Looking for feedback, Thanks.

The Million Pixel Project is a viral marketing/design/advertising project.
The goal is to sell 1,000,000-pixels for 50 cents a pixel in (10x10) 100-pixel blocks.25% of all the proceeds will then be donated to the American Red Cross.

Anyone can buy pixels, it's easy and fun. Not only do you get to design your 100-pixel block,
but you choose where it's placed on the homepage and the website it links too. Whether it be your site,
a corporate site, charity or just a favorite site...whatever, you choose. (And yes, you can buy more
than one block and create an even larger image.) The website will be up for at least 5-years,
that works out to less than 3ยข a day for your block! With the potential of millions of people the site why wouldn't you do it?

What can you do with a 100-pixels? Be Creative. Advertise. Have Fun. Donate.

Your site certainly does look the part, much better than the original site, but I dont think anyone will be able to pull it off that the first guy did, the idea's already gone.

Im just wundering why the site name is 1000000, but the logo at the top says 100 Pixels?

None the less, Good luck with the project.

It is also great of you to donate 25% of the money to the Red Cross, great job. Are you donating when you have made your million or as you make yuour money?

:)

kinda confoosed about this.. where does the other 75% of the money go? What's the point?

The money is donated monthly based on the number pixels purchased. The point is to sell ad space, the differnce is I'm giving back 25% of whatever comes in. The site will be up for at least 5 years, that like 3ยข day to advertise.

People might respect it more if you donated all the money except the fees to cover hosting costs, and like it has already been said, this is done - its old and serves no purpose.

I'm sure if you have made a few websites, you have probably copied someone else's idea. So leave the guy alone it's the web, it's going to happen.

i think the original is an insperation to us all that a simple idea that no one had thought of before can go very far, i dont think copies will go very far.

I think what people liked about the first one is the fact that it was like the one and only one that would be like the time capsual of the internet, when more copies comes along that ideas going to be weakend, and then people are just not going to bother with it.

Well I am not claiming to have come up with the idea, I give big props to Alex and the milliondollarhomepage, I did see an opportunity to try and use it for some greater good. Would I be making money, yeah, but isn't that what we are all trying to do? Let's face it, if I sold every pixel block I would be donating $125,000. That's a nice chunk of change. I was going to charge less per block (like $20 and donate 50%) but everyone I talked to said $50. Maybe I'll retool it.

Your still missing what the MDHP is valued by, the original idea. No one's going to surf to YAMPHP (Yet Another Million Pixel Home Page) just to look at ads... they surf to this kids (Alex's) site to see how he's doing, not to view the ads..

I'm curious as to how many of these copycat sites are going to keep their promise of being up 5 years when they sell practically nothing... We should compile a list of these MDHP knock offs and see how they're doing month after month... lol...

Great idea but from what has been said it sucks that you copied it (but you did add the donation part which is really good).

I'm actually working on that :)

=================

Anyway, pixelmaster, I hope people's negativity doesn't keep you from posting more. There have just been a TON of these sites in the past couple of weeks, and I think everyone's just getting annoyed. Why people are so pissed off about it, I don't know. The MDHP owner knew there would be knockoffs, and even said he didn't care. While some people are just stealing his code, for the most part, people are trying to add different twists here and there. And yes, you are donating to a charity, which is nice. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, there is a lot of skepticism about the future of non-original pixel ad pages, so if you're going to have any success, you have to find something new and exciting, otherwise you'll just be tossed aside like the others.

This has already (almost) been done, be creative, do something new! ...

What will you do when the television crews and newspaper reporters want to interview you to find out what it's like to be a wannabe?

yeah i have seen probably about 20 of duplications of the milliondollarhomepage :D, dont think any of them will be successful. he was the first and got all the attention, noone is going to want to buy ads on these new ones popping up that have no traffic :/
