Domain: militarybases.co
A lot of traffic to various bases across the country make this a valid investment.
A similar site has sold for 120.000+ USD on flippa _> militarybases.com

.co is regarded as a top level domain by Google in terms of seo benefits
The name is an exact match premium domain in my opinion.

I want to know your well esteemed opinions and of course an actual appraisal.

Many thanks for your valuable information.

I was shocked to hear that militarybases.com would sell for that much and looked it up - it was a complete site with content/traffic etc (see: http://flippa.com/blog/flippies/) ...That is probably where most of it's value lies.

The keywords are decent in dot com, but I don't see the same value in dot co. The dot com site is built into an informational site using affiliate links for military loans, etc... and honestly I don't see any business use outside that niche. But building a site similar to that is going to lose a lot of traffic to the dot com version. There aren't a lot of other uses and it's not really brandable as something else. Generally, if someone does as site as an "informational" site, the business value is low and endusers don't usually pay a lot for domains to do that unless they are premium dot com..

I see it as regfee - mid $xx reseller and low $xxx to high $xxx enduser. I don't think it will be easy to find an enduser, though, and you might be waiting a long time. Development is a better route for a domain like this.

Hope this helps!

I don't know if other people feel this way, but I try to stay away from .co if the .com is developed in the same obvious way that the .co would be developed. Like in this case, how could you develop militarybases.co to really differentiate from the intent of the .com? Users would be confused.

If the .com was still for sale for $100k+ and you could get the .co, however, I'd say go for it. The odds of a domain selling for that high are pretty slim. Tens of them do every year, and your development would be kind of safe.

I know you're not asking about development, but this is how I personally value a .co. It's worth a lot less to me if the .com is going to devalue its potential.

Svede's numbers are probably accurate, but I don't think I would develop it, either.

I agree with you and that was what I was trying express with the mention of losing traffic to the dot com - but you said it better. Also, I think I agree with you on development - my point was more that if you had to do something with it (other than drop it), that might be the best route to go - then again, I am a developer so I tend to think "development, development, development". ;)

Thank you VERY MUCH for those valuable replies.
I very much appreciate this. All of you are very knowledgeable except the person that generically says only .gov (how would you even reg this???) .info or .us would be valuable thats ridiculous :D
