Estibot says $31,000. I guess "mermaid network" doesn't sound too bad.
Potentially. . .who knows. 2,160 google results for mermaid.net DO NOT accept less than $1000 for this domain. It's a good one. Will you retire on it? Probably not. Pay off that used car you got a few years ago? Maybe.
My advice: Do one of the following:
1. develop it
2. Apply for a premium auction on sedo. I can't see them saying no to this one.
as for the starting bid I'd say no more than $1500, maybe sticking closer to $750-1000, and just see how high it goes. Really, you should listen to the advice of others on this forum concerning a starting bid for this domain, though.
3. wait.

If you saw the thread I started when this was ending, then you know that I thought that it sold for a little high on tdnam. That being said, it is great name with a ton of potential. There can be a number of uses, any one of which would significantly increase the name's value. I don't think that you can just immediately flip it for a lot more than you paid, but depending on what you do with it, it could certainly be worth a lot more than you paid in the end.

Brainstormed development ideas:
1. watercraft rental
2. coastal tourism
3. service that finds watercraft for sale on the internet for a small fee or advertising
4. service that finds bodies of water in a googlemaps sort of manner
5. place to go for diving information and reviews on diving products/services
Meh. . .some ideas.
I'm working on web2.0 photoshop stuff, so maybe hit me up later and ask if I could try to make a logo for you. I'd do it for under $10, and of course you would get to pick which one.
