Melbourne IT Charges $25 for a Push

What the . . . I won a domain at snap and was told it was set up in a Melbourne IT account. When I logged on and tried to push it to another person with a Melbourne IT account, I was sent to a credit card page demanding $25 for the push, called a "Change of Ownership Request." Anyone else have this happen to him?

MelbourneIT are notorious for this. Transfer out, as soon as you are able.

You should read up on the registrar beforehand next time, there are alot of reviews available. All I can suggest doing is getting your domain, and taking it to a more reputable registrar.

Sorry to hear,
Good Luck

Ouch - thats gotta hurt people who sell domains for around the $20 mark, ii've a feeling register.com may also charge for pushes too.

I just steer clear of registrars i don't recognise and buy domains registered at reputable registrars.

If you win the domain at Snapnames you're stuck at the register they assign the name. You can transfer after 60 days. Transfer it after 60 days to a company that will not mess you around with the push.

MelbourneIT really has you over a barrel ... it's either pay their $25 fee or wait 2 months to transfer it out.

It's dumb on their part to discourage "pushes", since that's a sure way of losing many customers.

Heck, many registrars allow, and even encourage, free pushes because in the longrun it's often more profitable - keeps the domains within the registrar longer, which equates to more renewals and upsell opportunities like web hosting, whois privacy, etc.

Yah, thats utter ridiculous. They shouldn't charge for a service like this. Glad I have nothing with them.
