come on ppl... i think most of u is jealous of him since he comes out with the MDHP ideas and have alot $ since he already sold most of the pixels! I know it was his responsibility to prevent his network from attacks, but if Google or some companies with good computer programmers, etc cant event protect their network.. how could he prevent his network then?

another of their press releases. :)

yeah definately a PR stunt again

i bet what he did was create his own advertising company then he bought advertising space from his own million dollar homepage then he hired a russian hacker to take down his site, leaked the news to the press and then threatened to sue himself, sounds likely to me!!!</sarcasm>

It was his fault.
He failed to buy ddos hardware protection.
If I paid 38k+ for advertising and the site I was advertising on was down I would sue too.

Do you really think its possible to just buy generic protection for all denial of service attacks? thats like saying a virus scanner will protect you from all viruses.

Buyer's Remorse.

The publicity generated by the lawsuit will only give the advertisers more traffic. (including the advertiser suing him).

You are missing my point. It is not possible to buy generic protection against all types of ddos attacks but it is possible to prevent against most.

This guy didn't even pay the extra money for the basic protection so he didn't do everything he could to minimize downtime. Therefor he should be held responsible and liable for the downtime.

HHDomains is right, a site that large should have had at least some protection.

Granted, you can't help it when a hacker chooses you as the target of a DDOS attack. But six days of downtime? There's little excuse for that, especially with a million dollars cash on hand.

It should take less than 24 hours to get things under control, and if neccessary, move the site to a provider that can mitigate the attack. Heck, round robin the site on 10 different servers if needed. It's not like the content was going to be changing.

i dun think he had the million dollar in hand, since he still needed to pay for the hosting

Yeah, and those swanky socks too right? And he bought a Mini Cooper?

The point being, he should have plenty left over to move the site to a new host if needed or get it redundant on a few servers. Would have costed less than $1k. Domain propagation is instant now a days, so its easy to move websites to new hosting providers.
