Mass e-mailing software...

I have a large list of e-mails, comma seperated. What can I use to send a sweet html newsletter????

Does anyone know of anything free???

You could theoretically do it with Outlook, just by pasting it in, I guess (unless it's *thousands* of emails). But if you're in the United States, unsolicited spam/newsletters are illegal now, if I'm not mistaken... not to mention, terribly annoying.

use worldcast, it can send 1000 emails in 5 minutes it's a commercial software located at http://www.fairlogic.com/ (not my site)

Maybe try emailbrain.com I've heard good things about their email programs.

I am not spamming... I have a list of members of some of my sites and the newsletter I wrote has an opt out link...

I found something called Turbo Mail but I have not figured out how to use it...... Is it really possible to go the Outlook route? I have a list of a few thousand but I can do a hundred at a time or what ever but would it be possible to send an html newsletter out with this????

There has got to be some kind of opensource for this somewhere. I will check out the sources... Hotscripts etc....

One of the sites is a vb site and I have a script installed called Commbull for newsletters but for some reason it times out on me unless I keep the code very small.....

I second this! WorldCast is awesome. Yes, it is "commercial" software that requires something like $50, but they have a free for non-commercial key.

Richieboy: I would suggest NOT to use outlook because every email will contain the whole list of email addresses. I am sure your members dont want their email address in hundreds of mailboxes.

the free can only send 100 emails at a time, after it has sent to 100, import another set of 100 but as you said you own a huge database so it will not work for you. outlook will only put it in bcc sometimes it doesn't work it will appear as spam on the other side though you're not spamming, worldcast delivers as if it's delivered personally because it can replace variables like first name, lastname, email just put in and it will be displayed whatever the email of the person and put Dear [firstname] comes out Dear William (my name) to the end user

You could easily do it with a short PHP script. The only problem would be the server's work.

You want to send html based mails.. right? Are there any other requirements? will there be any images attached? or will the HTML pull the images off some site?

Yes, html will be sent and I will be pulling stats etc off one of my sites so no images will be attached...

That is really about it... No rush on this at all. I was thinking about doing this my self too actually when I have time but I am sure you can most likely do a better job

I've got the basic mailer done. It can separate email addresses from the comma separated txt and assign each one to an array element. Then it can mail the html to each address separately. There is no forms to insert links etc. Have to do some manual editing in the PHP file.
I am planning on improving this script and then put it up for anyone to download at NP
