Marking a thread as "read"

Is there an easy way to mark a thread as "read?" I know you can mark all Forums as read.

I can't really think of a reason to, as if you have read the thread, it is displayed as being read, and if you haven't, it's displayed as being unread. If you had to go into thread view to mark it as read, then it sort of defeats the object seeing as you have just 'read' the thread.

If any of that makes sense...
