Main difference

What is the main difference between Linux and SunSolaris?
Globaltap.com offers them both but I can't get their peculiarities?

Keys points are that Solaris is proprietary and it's been around for a longer period of time. It's a mature system that's still being used for mission-critical applications (army, Nasa etc).

In a nutshell, from what I remember reading, they're basically the same. Both are technically flavors of Unix with slightly different ways of handling things. I don't think there is any specific advantage of Solaris over Linux, but there may be that I am not aware of. I admittedly don't work with Solaris a whole bunch.

They are opensourced and that's why they are on the same range

I guess this is the price... The solaris is also from *nix family...

Get a linux and do not waste your time on something you do not know good.
