I own this domain, I've been contemplating selling for a year or so, though "official" appraisals and offers have been wildly divergent. I've received offers in the lower mid $xx,xxx range for the domain. I've run my business from it for more than 10 years, but have other domains that cover me there, and the vast majority of my business is referral in any case.

I've hung the domain on sedo on again and off again, without a lot of "real" interest (lots of allowance money offers, though. ;) ).

Thank you for your time and thoughts.

Even if this fetches $$$$$$ I will not sell it if its got my last name on. It looks cute and nice for your website

You would not sell if it's got your last name on it?

I truly respect everyones feelings and would sit on it if it were mine but it's not.

If your born with the last name Car or Lot or Los and own the.com (literally) then find out it has great value and want to sell it. Get the most you can and sell it.

This gentleman has already said he owns his full name which he has promoted for the last two years in various ways.

He did not tell people this was his last name, someone here looked it up.

I believe it has the potential of $80-150+k but $60k today is a nice lick.

For everyone saying xxxxxx 125k+ then do it and talk to him about a commission.

LOS is also german for "start", "let's go"

60k is probably right on target, 6 digits would be an end user deal and is only achievable by some decent advertising and definite positioning of the domain and it's associated site/product.

Or a domain auction, like the one coming mid August.

If they will allow a high enough reserve and then you have to remember the fees that go with auction.

Possibility.

I am thrilled with the helpful info, assessments and the sentiments associated with them here. There are no bad answers or ideas, and different perspectives are exactly what I was hoping for. Thank you.

Selling this domain is a tough decision as it is my last name--but momentarily removing emotion from the equation, it doesn't really effect my business whether I use this domain or my "full name" .com.

If I was launching a new software package (or other product), I would think very hard about selling now as a short, easily branded, pronounceable .com would be a nice head start.

However, I don't see that happening anytime soon, and I do have other opportunities the cash would help me pursue at the moment. I haven't made up my mind one way or the other...

It's (perhaps?) interesting from my "outsider" perspective how difficult it is to sell a domain to an end-user. Most domain selling sites cater to professionals like you folks, and offers fielded fall in line with that. I would use the services of a domain broker with a track record of "big" sales who was going to actively market the domain. If using the pro meant the difference between $60K and $120K (or whatever) I would gladly pay something like 10% of the first $100K and 40% of anything beyond that. That's a small price to pay for such a large return. Are there enough guys like me to make that a profitable niche for someone? I haven't a clue.
