Is there a file manager script I can put into a directory on my server and it won't go outwith the directory its in?

And is there a script I can use to password protect this file?

what do you mean "it won't go outwith the directory it is in?"???

if you want to password protect a directory use htpassword and htaccess. Most servers use that method, not just apache.

To password protect directories you can use an option in Cpanel (if you have it)
If you dont have cpanel you have to hand edit the .htaccess file. You can use this tool

try http://www.cjgexplorerpro.com.ar/ their script is good and you can configure what directorys it uses! Then use htaccess or cpanel as others suggested to password protect it
