Whats the most did you ever saw a long domain go for? Our some long domains good or all of the worthless?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
GoDaddyGoDaddy
that reminds me of the longest words in spanish:

HIPOPOTOMONSTROSESQUIPEDALIOFOBIA

I saw there was a reported $400,000 sale of prescriptionmedication.com at the Affiliate Summit Live Auction about a month ago. But, I don't see that confirmed or reported elsewhere as a sale. Perhaps it didn't go through.

long domains have fall backs though... short domain names are more prefered as it's more catchy and can result to more visitors.

lzy- "Pferdehaftpflichtversicherungen" means "horse liability insurance" in German ...

go to Goggle >>> click on Language Tools >>> put a text in the "Translate Text" box >>> choose languages >>> hit Translate ... (it also translates webpages)

Horse liability... :o

Thanks, wanted to rep but I'm already too fond of you. :red:

IMguru - it is true, some long keyworded domains can get high SE rankings , even more so if they have dashes ...

but ... there is a big possibility , that a surfer/buyer might not click on a really long possibly-lower-quality-looking domain and prefer to click on a shorter quality-conveying domain ...

jonh karr - this might be a good idea , if the long domain describes one of the products/services of the company (even as a trophy domain) ... but it would also drive the price down because usually people spend a lot money for domains either for the brandability/recognition/prestige potential or for the traffic ... people will probably spend a much lower amount for a domain to just redirect it to their site especially if it has many alternatives (unless it has huge traffic)

lzy - excuses , excuses ... lol

I think most people would agree that anything over 15 characters is fairly long.

I try not to buy a lot of long names however if I find a phrase that would be identical to what people were search... then I do register them.

I have had some offers onโ€ฆ

MyLandIsForSale.com
PropertyOfChicago.com
SolarPowerYourHome.com
PhilippineElection.com

Which happen to be some of the longest names I own.

Out of all 8000 names I own, I have never had a name get natural type in traffic like PhilippineElection.com during their recent elections. Surprisingly enough most of the traffic came from the USA, from some of the 10 million American/Filipinoโ€™s who wanted to view the results in their homeland.

If I buy or register a long domain name its going to describe a product or service for a company. Im not going to register just any long domain name

I'll take that chance.

Here are my long domains:

MedicalScienceDegree.com

WirelessAreaNetwork.com

VirtualWirelessNetworks.com

GlobalWirelessSolution.com

WorldWideWeblogs.com

WorldWideWebmails.com

WideAreaNetworks.info

I would take my chances with these names too! These are some really nice examples of long names that are worthwhile.
