there are fewer and fewer good 4 letter acronyms. How do you find a good
name from many q, x, y and z? or from J, K, U, V, W?

I will start first:

1. good use of Q:
http://RTQs.com from acronym dictionary, RTQ is an acronym for Real Time Quotes.

http://UHQs.com from the acronym dictionary, UHQ is an acronym for ultra high quality or qualities.

http://srqs.com The acronym dictionaries list SRQ as Service Request; Srqs can also be Search Request; sales request; sex request.

http://LQEs.com The acronym dictionaries list LQE as Linear Quadratic Equations.

2. good use of x:
obviously, we all know the magic word SX,
http://NkSX.com NK=N*ked
http://FvSX.com FV=favorite
http://RWSX.com RW= Real World

3. I have some domains with y and z, but they are chinese ping yin, not
useful to english speaker:
http://xxck.com
http://xxgy.com
http://tyqc.com
http://yjzd.com

4. *LastName
http://npry.com The word Pry is also someone's last name. Nancy Pry, Nathan Pry
http://jsau.com Sau is someone's last name.

5. if all fails, use some imagination that include J, V, U, K:

http://mojv.com mojv is Mojaves desert site.
http://PhNu.com PhNu is Phone Number
http://objL.com Object Language
http://sjpn.com sjpn : it is Search Japan
http://EVMK.com ev is electric vehicle while mk is market;
http://oakM.com Oakland Metro
http://JofH.com jofh.com Journal of Health
http://VtNN.com vtnn.com Vermont News Network
http://RVPD.com rvpd = RV Parks Directory; or RV Parts Dealer

Let us see how you made up your acronym.

If I were looking for acronyms, I would look at other alternatives than LLLL.com at this stage. Nice names.

While names can be sold based on a known acronymn as you present, particularly to other domainers, I think most end user sales of 4 letter .coms will be because the letters match the company initials of the buyer - a random sequence predictable only statistically. That is why I laugh when folks put down random LLLL's : "but what does it mean?"

I don't know. But the buyer does. And that is what matters.

There could be a potential buyer with a money to burn looking for an obscure 4 letter domain name.

Probably you will feel sorry about that a year later if all LLLL.COMs are taken. maybe...

cache is showing some good example how we can evaluate those useless LLLL.COMs. Thanks anyway. :tu:

another topic is the google search result. Some LLLL has high google search value. For example my name bgoq has 7K google search, which gjod has only 1.5K results. The bgoq.com does have higher traffic than gjod.com

However a high google search result only means that the "supply" of the key word is
high, it does not necessary means the search "demand" is high (the demand is measured by the overture). So in general, a high google search result may not
translate to a higher traffic.

google results is a very small part of the equation i'm afraid.

I believe that most of 4-letter X-Q-Z names will be registered by Chinese people.

The reasons :

1. The letters X, Q, and Z are very common in Chinese language (X, Q, Z are even more used than B or C in Chinese language).

2. Most terms in Chinese language are combination of two or four syllables.

As a result, really many common terms in Chinese language have 4-letter acronym, and almost all 4-letter X-Q-Z combinations can have very useful meanings.

More often than not when I look up a LLLL in the archive I find the old site was Chinese. However those letters have the smallest market worldwide, based on what is left in LLLL.com. The sleeping dragon has yet to fully awaken to the internet.

Just about all that gets past the bigboys in the drops, since the first of the year, has either Q, X, or Z or, rarely, two or more of the other "bad" letters.

By the way, add "W" to the list of extinct worst letter names. All LLLL.coms remaining have at least one J,Q,U,V,X,Y or Z.

Just Curious. Who are the bigboys?

What letter is best of the remaining.

J, Q, U, V, X, Y or Z.

U?

I think U is better, it can make the CVCV for example.

There are many ways to look at the question. But the domainers voted this way:

Y
J
U
X
Z
V
Q

Why?

Out of the total 39850 avaiable domains currently in the database, there are a total of 39850 X 4 letters. I simply counted how many is left for each letter. Here you go the stat:

7046 y
8365 j
8833 u
9797 x
10217 z
14920 v
16852 q

If anyone is interested, attached is a list of the 29603 LLLL.com with the letter U (and a Y list) in but no J,Q,V,X,Y,Z to have fun scanning with. If you wish to try it with a different letter, paste the list in excel and find and replace all u's with a preferred letter.
