Most would be in the $XX,XXX to $XXX,XXX range.

Just my opinion... I would think that $20,000 would be a minimum starting point. And that would be for a name with no obvious meaning, such as VV, YY, or KK. Other combos would definitely be in the mid xx,xxx (to the moon) range.

Only 26 of those domains exist!

And just fwiw, I don't know that I'd be posting that a double letter was even interested in selling / talking with you in too many other places. Many a source exists that monitors what domain name that could be, and there are only 26 possibilities to begin with anyway

It doesn't matter what the letters are. A 20k offer is equivelant to offering $200 for a LLL.com. He/She isn't going to take you seriously.

If you're serious about buying the name, then let them know that with a six figure offer to start out.

It so much depends on the letter. If it's what I think it is, be careful. That one does have a bad connotation that may be difficult, if not impossible, to overcome.
