I submitted a few names to premiumdomain.com to see where I stand.

pail.mobi
penalty.mobi
strain.mobi

All certified as premium. I had several that missed by a few points. If anyone is interested, list your certified premiums.

I see their ad on NP all the time but I've always wondered about the point of the service. Can you shed some light on it for me?

It is something that I just tried for the first time. The domain score ranges from 0(worst) to 1000(best). Domains rated at 400 or better are considered premium. Here is the analysis of domains sold in recent years:

domains sold for $1million plus (average score 800+)
domains sold for $100,000 plus (average score 660+)
domains sold for $10,000 plus (average score 620+)

Their point system is based on:

name length
syllables
readability
term frequency
keyword search popularity
domain extension

Who knows how accurate it really is but the search is free and fun to see how your domains measure up. I hope this helped.

The worst is accompagnatrice.mobi which scored 1. :D I think I have a winner. 20NP$ if someone scores 0 (it's not an english name, therefore it's ok).

I think regarding .mobi it's even more difficult for such a program, because, I would not expect a program to know what is more mobile relevant or not.

I think you can still check up names free of charge. The 10$ fee (40% discount for NP members) is if you want to list your names for sale.

I dont see the point niether... it kinda makes me laugh, its like when people try to sell names and link to an over-inflated Appraisal Certificate.
