I want to get rid of my directory because im bored of approving links every single day. I haven't made any money from submitted links because i've allowed people to submit for free since i launched but you could change it to require paid links and make some cash i guess. The google ads don't make much, they've made $1 so far this month but occasionally i get like $4 or $6 in a day from it.
