Can anyone tell me if this really works? I have found that on many blog sites like Wordpress, you can insert your link and when someone clicks your username it will lead to the link.

Does this count as a site linking in? Does this affect your page rank?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Don't know about page rank, But it might help in getting some traffic

These are called Dofollow and they can be good for back linking yes :)

Basically the owners of these domains want traffic so they allow people to get link juice for posting worthy comments, but the amount of spam goes up considerably too, especially on higher PR sites.

Check out commentluv and keywordluv if you are interested in it and this topic can help you with more information :)

I actually prefer to get PR 3-4 sites to comment on, fewer people comment on these so you actually get more benefit with them.

Imagine 10,000 people all taking from the PR7 cake, not much to go around...now contrast that with 100 people taking from the PR4 and you get far more benefit :)

Thanks, good to hear. I have been posting on the lower PR sites like you said. Even the PR 0 but I know I probably won't get any traffic from those. I'll aim for PR3 to PR5 blogs.

Just be certain to truly add to the discussion (in the comment) and not make it a blatant attempt at spamming to get linkjuice... the blog owner will either delete your comment (or blacklist your IP and/or outbound link)...

That said, it's an excellent way to drive traffic to your site - not just from inbound pagerank (if dofollow set) but also from human readers of your comment(s).

Just commenting on high PR blogs wont help if the comment links are nofollow and trust me most of the blogs have a nofollow attribute attached to it so you wont get the PR juice but it still counts as a vote to your site.

If the link is do follow and is coming from a high PR site that would eventually raise your PR. But dont just go commenting on high PR sites, make sure they are relevant to your Niche (cause that counts too), check if the comment links are do follow (I use Firefox plugin NoDoFollow for this) and make a meaningful comment

I think that is not good idea to consider links in acommnts as stable source of back links at all

Link building via blog comments is the most useful way of creating backlinks.

The value of links varies dramatically - and the price you'll have to pay matches that value.

For instance, a spammy-looking blog comment is worth at most a few cents (and you can find people who will make them for this price). On the other hand, getting a link from a high quality site in a manner that looks editorially given can be worth $100+, and you can find services that will charge these kinds of rates to build links for a site.

Check out commentluv...

Great advice for topics you are actually interested in; Anything else is just more Spam, IMO.
Your advice about medium page rank sites makes sense too.

I actually suggest that you post to both nofollow and dofollow sites. It looks more natural to the search engines and the fact of the matter is that a link is a link.
