request Legacy dn software

years ago I bought this software called 'dnfinder'. I'm a mac guy so it was the only option available to me. It worked until about a year ago even though developer is long gone and didn't update it.

you can choose patterns, keywords, exclude letters or numbers, select lists of words to go into the wilderness of domains that aren't hand regged and MAYBE find something ok.

thing is, when it stopped working, it was because it now only can run 15 queries before it gets stuck.

so my question is: is there any other software like this around for mac osx?

...then you only need to find someone to check where the problem is and fix it.

I'd assume it has to do with too many requests / certain period of time.. maybe some kind of a 'pause' can fix it for you.

maybe I just need to the the whois server it is hitting, currently
whois.crsnic.net

You need to go with a paid api from a registrar to check mass availability or whois info.

There is a better approach to check domain availability.
Hitting whois servers en masse isn't going to work well.

You can simply run DNS queries against the domain names.
You'll get some false negatives, but at least you can filter out your lists.
Then use the bulk registration feature at a reliable registrar for a live check.
