I want to learn PHP over the summer

I bought a book on Amazon but I also want a nice online resource...

I want practical learning, not stuff that dreamweaver can just do for me.

Can anyone point me in the right direction with free, online, practical tutorials? And any other tips for learning the language?

Thanks!

I learnt my PHP from the following resources:

1. Absolute Beginners guide at zend.com. This is where I took off.

2. The PHP Manual. It is basically the whole reference manual that is available online at PHP.net including all the user-submitted info.

3. A book called PHP 5 Power Programming (ISBN : 0-13-147149-X ). It covers nearly all aspects of PHP 5 including the OO concepts. Also has good tips on how to write neat, understandable code etc. Very useful.

I use php.net every day.

The book I have sits up on a corner of desk not being used.

The comments normally have exactly the script I want.
