Plus taking free scripts etc and just messing around with them, reading tutorials ( http://www.pixel2life.com/tutorials/PHP_Coding/All/ ) and whatnot. Sure, there's some great books out there, but there are some "free" ways of learning. And :imho: not worth it when you are first starting out...
i agree. i have that book (as well as his less advanced "PHP for the WWW" book) its an excellent book. well worth the money.AndyM3 said:I'm reading "PHP and MySQL for Dynamic Web Sites" by Larry Ullman. It's one of the best PHP guides out there
i disagree there. imho the manual by itself is not enough. when i first started i couldnt make heads or tails out of much of the manual (the beginning part, the general overview i got. but as far as the functions and how to use the knowledge in the beginning -forget about it)ninedogger said:I didn't even know php.net existed when i first started PHP and if i knew it did the manual is the best place to learn!
I wouldnt recomend buying anything to learn php , so many free stuff on the internet
