hiya ppl... i was wondering whether many people here use layers when creating web pages? i havent delt with them much myself... this is mainly because when i have looked at pages with layers in it they look very messy... but do many designers find them to be a valuable asset or just a different method of producing the same output as tables?

From personal experience I'd advise you to stay away from using layers. When you use layers you have to specify the exact location (in pixels) of where that layer is going to be, which can be rather time consuming and difficult with browser compatibility. I'd say use tables in place of layers. Tables are overall easier to work with. :imho:

I have never heard of layers before! They don't sound very useful though. If I want anything to "float" ontop of anything I use <div></div> with an absoloute position!
